The Kingdom and United Provinces of Krytenia is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by King Tristan I with an iron fist, and renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 16.429 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Emberton. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 57%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

Public loudspeakers constantly tell citizens they are "happy people", the Ministry of Truthiness now manages the entire media industry, wealthy parents-to-be can select their perfect baby, and citizens are only allowed to view government-approved TV shows. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Krytenia's national animal is the Wild Cat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Anglicanism, and its currency is the argental.

Krytenia is ranked 7th in Rushmore and 3,773rd in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 60 on the Gilded Widget Scale.
