The Grand Duchy Duchy Dutch of Le Duche is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Ronald Grump with an iron fist, and renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 16.63 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lindblum. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining industries.

Citizens are regularly arrested in queues for 'loitering', scenic tours are unheard of after most environmental laws were abolished, police officers have nearly cracked a major underage astronomy syndicate, and inter-species marriages are ignored by the government. Crime is crippling. Le Duche's national animal is the Melania, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Trump.

Le Duche is ranked 1st in Flavian Amphitheatre and 7th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 1,359 on the Gilded Widget Scale.
