Empire of Ascoobis Air Force
Roundel
Mission
The Air Force has the primary duty of protecting the air space of the Empire, protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and securing the airspace of the Empire's interests.
History
The Air Force was initially formed in 1921 to aid in the research and development of heavier-than-air flight.
For many of the years after the full development of heavier-than-air flight in 1902, the Air Force acted to protect the Empire's airspace as a branch of the Army. A Division was cut off from the Army Air Division to form to the Navy's Air Wing, which acted the principle air defense capacity onboard the brand-new aircraft carriers which was being constructed. With this new need for aerial dominance in the seas and in Ascoobian Territorial Waters, the Navy Air Wing began. With its establishment as an independent branch of the Ascoobian Armed Forces in 1921, the Air Force became the main body to protect Ascoobis' airspace. Since then, it has been at the cutting edge of aircraft technology and a leading figure of the aircraft industry.
Organization
The Air Force is divided into many Air Wings of 200 aircraft, which controls the fighters, heavy attack aircraft, bombers, Transport/Cargo aircraft, and helicopters.
The Air Force is organized into several commands that are spread around based on Ascoobis' geography. Each Command has 1,000 total planes of all types assigned to it. The Commands are commanded by an officer with the rank of General. The Armies are subdivided into Divisions (50,000), Wings (200), Squadrons (20), Flights (10), Sections (5). Meanwhile helpcopters, since their introduction, have been split into squadrons (10) no matter their role, be it troop transport, air ambulance, close air support, or logistical. It should be noted that only four-percent of the Ascoobian Air Force is made up of pilots. The remaining ninty-six-percent are split among the command staff, administraitve staff, and matinence staff.
