Please note that this factbook is no longer recognized as lore of Beatitas, following the lore reset of The United Federations. This factbook is being kept as n example of our past. New official lore will be coming soon. Thank you for your patience!

Overview

The nation of Beatitas, for the most part, is a mainly Catholic country. Guaranteed in the nation's Constitution is freedom of religion. From the Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Also guranteed is the separation of Church and State. "Church and State shall not influence each other and shall be independent of each other." Among the human, AI, and native population, 70% profess Catholicism as their faith, 14% are non-religious, 5% practice a Native Spook Vooper religion, 8% are other Christian, of which 80% are Protestant and 15% Orthodox, 2% are Muslim, of which 75% are Sunni, one percent is Hindu, and less than one percent profess other religions.

History

The original settlers of what is now Beatitas are believed to have been animists. When New Vooperis was established, religions from Earth were brought. Most early settlers were Protestants and Catholics. There was not much conflict between the two, but rather, cooperation. One reason for this intermingling is the need to cooperate during hard times. Because of this, ideas were exchanged. The Catholics began to accept LGBT and same-sex marriage, while the Protestants eventually adopted some Catholic doctrines such as the celebration of seven sacraments, among other things. These similarities caused the eventual conversion of most Protestants, leaving only a small amount of Protestants, and a large amount of liberal Catholics.
After the Great Floods of New Vooperis around 2070 which led to many deaths and homeless people, some of the religious populace lost faith, resorting to deism, agnosticism, and atheism. Because both the nations of Vooperia and Beatitas haven't any official religion, the natives have mostly retained their cultural and religious identity.
