Political Parties of Beatitas

There are five main political parties in Beatitas that usually gain a seat on the elected Federal Council. These are the Greens, the Socialist Party, the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party, and the Libertarian Party. There are also some parties with representation in Congress but not in the Federal Council. These are the Communist Party, the People's Party, the National Socialist Beatum Workers' Party, and the National Bolshevik Beatum Workers' Party. Partisanship is very low, with members of different parties willing to work with each other.

The Greens
Founded even before the establishment of Beatitas as a world state, the Greens are one of the oldest political parties. They are known for their environmentalism, liberalism, social democracy, and dedication to pacifism. Before the onset of the reality of anthropogenic climate change, the Greens were regarded as fringe hippies. The public then went on to supoort the Greens by the millions, and after two terms of Green leadership and drastic change, the disaster was averted. The Greens have two out of 7 seats in the Federal Council.

The Liberal Party
The Liberal Party is the main centrist party in Beatitas. They were established upon the formation of Beatitas. They are known for their moderate views on almost everything, and they often strike compromises with the other parties, leading to the easier passage of bills through Congress. They are known to be mediators between the parties, sometimes averting crisis by convincing everyone to put away their differences. In the Federal Council, the Liberal Party has one seat out of 7.

The Socialist Party
The Socialist Party is the main party, of course, for socialists. The party was established before Beatitas, but its polling has always been relatively low. They are known for wanting to impose a socialist society upon Beatitas and massively redistributing wealth. The Socialist Party has been instrumental in passing landmark bills on worker protection, welfare, and labor unions. They lead Beatitas on its current path to communism. They have two out of seven seats in the Federal Council.

The Libertarian Party
The Libertarian Party was the newest party to have a seat in the Federal Council. Formed after the climate change crisis and the subsequent rise of the Greens, they seek to deregulate the economy while maintaining personal freedoms. They have passed many bills that improve the economy and heighten the efficiency of the government, and together with the Greens, they have protected and expanded the freedom of the people. The Libertarian Party has none out of 7 seats in the Federal Council. They are defunct.

The Conservative Party
The Conservative Party was founded the same time as Beatitas was, a combination of previous Conservative Parties. They seek to increase public decency and security at the expense of personal freedoms. They too, like the Libertarian Party, seek to deregulate the economy. They are the only major party who seek to increase the (non-existent) military. Much of their policies contradict those of the Greens. They recently collapsed, due to allegations of violence towards nonviolent protesters. The Conservative Party has none of 7 seats in the Federal Council.

The Anarchist Party
The Anarchist Party is the newest major party. They were formed during the rise of socialism, and seek to eliminate the state. They share much ground with the socialists, however, they are more radical. They have helped pass bills on privacy, rights, and many more. They have two seats out of 7 in the Federal Council.

Other Parties
The People's Party is a nationalist party, and is the nearest of the nationalist parties to having attained a seat in the Federal Council. The National Socialist Beatum Workers' Party is led by a failed painter with a mustache, and advocates for an ethnostate and the complete extermination of all aliens. Nearly nobody takes them seriously. The National Bolshevik Beatum Workers' Party is a toxic amalgamation of the Communists and the Nazis that has propaganda posters saying, "2+2=5" and advocates for the collectivization of literally everything but the state and the extermination of all aliens. Literally nobody, not even themselves, takes the party seriously.
