The Free Land of Belkom is a huge, efficient nation, remarkable for its ubiquitous missile silos, keen interest in outer space, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, humorless population of 728 million Belkomians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The relatively small, corrupt, pro-business government prioritizes Defense, although Industry, Education, and Administration are also considered important, while Spirituality and International Aid aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Atlas. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 15.2%.

The frighteningly efficient Belkomian economy, worth 116 trillion Belko-bucks a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Retail, and Uranium Mining. Black market activity is frequent. Average income is an impressive 159,974 Belko-bucks, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 812,830 per year while the poor average 17,421, a ratio of 46.7 to 1.

Minority children find the right answer in school tests is always the most insulting one, self-driving cars obey the road rules even during emergencies, 1% of global paper production is bound for the National Archive, and hit and run driving is no longer a crime - it's the national sport. Crime is pervasive, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Belkom's national animal is the Tiger, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Belkom is ranked 32,284th in the world and 2nd in The Capitalistic States of Independenica for Largest Governments, scoring 21.49 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
