Christmas in Fremet
Christmas is widely considered one of the main and most popular holiday in Fremet. Christmas was the first holiday to be officially recognized as a national holiday in 1655. King ิsten IV issued Royal Decree #259-1 which declared the creation of a systematic and standardized system of national holidays and special events. This royal decree soon came to be known as the "Order for Cristmas"
Before the Decree:
Beforehand, holidays were not celebrated nationwide and there were very few, because of this, regional governments struggled to cooperate because of cultural rifts forming between the regions of Fremet. After the Parliament voted to give further autonomy to Fremet's regions. At this point, the king had to step in to prevent the breakup of his kingdom.
Results
As a result, the regions of Fremet are some of the most united in the region, and there is a deep cultural background regarding Christmas.
Today, Christmas in Fremet is a nationwide event, and shops, schools, government buildings, etc. close down to celebrate the holiday. Food consists of pastries and fresh Fremetian honey ham and LOTS of deserts.
