The Kingdom of Haremm commonly called Haremm is a Federal state with a Parliamentary Semi-Constitutional Monarchy in Spiritus. It is surrounded by the Amaia Sea. Haremm covers 209,253 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 169, 463, 524. Haremm comprises of 13 states and 3 crown dependencies. Okuzawa is the country's capital; other major cities include Akamatsu and Midori.
Haremm is a developed country, with a high national GDP of 4.63 trillion Ի. The per capita GDP of 17, 384Ի ranks highly in the world, although the country also ranks highly in income inequality. The economy is fueled by an influx of tourists and high productivity, as well as a free-market economy that allows businesses to thrive. Haremm is a recognized regional power, as well as a member of several international organizations, including the region of Spiritus and the World Assembly.
The name of the nation comes from the Khivan word "harem" which means unity. It originated back to its establishment when Arata of Kiyushi unified 12 neighbouring islands under one banner to fight off the barbaric raiders.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Haremm is as a "Haremmian."
The lands of Haremm were once oppressed and forced to pay tribute or face destruction from raiders of Radistan. That is until Arata Shinomiya, the King of Kiyushi gathered an armed force and successfully defeated the raider force stationed in the city of Okuzwa, thus beginning the Unification Wars. The 7-month campaign was lead by 13 native leaders who wish to liberate their homelands. It was at the pivotal Battle of Cordelia wherein Union forces successfully seized control of a Radistan Mercantile Fleet which signified the end of Radistan tyranny. A gathering within the leaders of each island was held thereafter to discuss what should happen afterwards. They all agreed upon being united under one banner; Arata Shinomiya was proclaimed the leader of this nation and the Kingdom of Haremm was established.
A new constitution was immediately drafted and a proper system of governing was introduced; a single monarch to act as the overall leader and 12 minor nobles to perform administrative duties in their respective states. The calendar was reformed to symbolize the beginning of a new era. The Haremmian Era Calendar (HEC) is a perennial calendar that divides a year into 13 months with 28 days each. A new language was also constructed to ease with the language barrier within the country and with the rest of the world, a regional version of the Common Tongue has been made, the Haremmian Basic. The nation has prospered due to the increased development of its vast farmlands and its expansive trading enterprise.
On 31 HEC, a Haremish exploratory ship established a settlement on an uncharted island far west of the nation. After further exploration, Haremish colonists clashed with the local populace which turned out to be the same people that sacked the isles of Haremm and that they were on their homeland of Radistan. A request for reinforcements, 4 months had passed and an army composed of 12000 men led by King Arata himself. A force accumulating 12400 ventured deep into the Radistan forests with a single goal in mind, total subjugation of Radistan. The 5-year war, known as the Retaliation War is what defined the nation as a force to reckon with. On late 34 HEC, the tide of war shifted drastically into Haremm's side when Haremish forces launched a surprise attack onto the key city of Riverlandia; the sole provider of supplies to Radistan. Known as the Sacking of Riverlandia, Haremish forces razed key structures to the ground, slaughtered every man they could find, and captured every woman and child to serve as workers in the newly founded colony. They also found people of different races that were abducted by Radistan raiding parties. They were given a choice to be sent back to their home countries or inhabit the nation's colony. The few remaining strongholds were easily captured facing hardly any resistance at all. The capital city of Averia is what remains of the Radistan forces. Their leader refused to surrender despite being besieged, outnumbered 5 to 1, and half of their navy destroyed or captured. Things changed when Radistan forces launched a surprise attack on a Haremish encampment as a diversion for the Radistan nobility to flee from the city with their remaining ships. The war has ended with a total number of casualties reaching 70k.
The nation focused its efforts on infrastructure improvements in the colony, now named Anthyr. On 58 HEC, the king ordered the construction of a new city on western Kiyushi to serve as Haremm's main economic center, King Arata would not live to see the city finished as he died on 59 HEC, the city would be finished 40 years after initial construction.
On 119 HEC, the nation colonized an island far east of Haremm and established the Haremm East Trading Company after signing an agreement with the native's leader. The deal was that Haremm would be allowed to settle on the island's uninhabited western side and the native populace would be undisturbed in exchange for docking rights and being trade partners.
On 165 HEC, a coal mine explosion on the island of Tucana caused its shock waves to activate unknown machinery buried deep within the nation, this resulted in the entire landmass of Haremm and parts of the Amaia Sea to ascend approximately 217 m above sea level. Due to this catastrophe, the nation greatly improved its airship industry to sustain the economy. Akira Shinomiya, the monarch at that time, immediately summoned the scientific community of the nation to investigate the issue. On 204 HEC, a Haremish archaeologist team discovered a massive cave system and upon further exploration, unknown machinery was discovered. Further investigation led to that the machinery discovered is an extraterrestrial ship that crash-landed possibly thousands or millions of years ago, long before the islands of Haremm formed.
The nation's longest-ruling monarch, Queen Akira, after a 74-year reign, died at the age of 97 due to complications with old age on 218 HEC. She was succeeded by her son, Masahiro Shinomiya.
On 290 HEC, the nation's leading scientists successfully recreated the substance which powers the unknown machinery. They called this new material "pegasium", after the country's national animal. The nation's monarch, Queen Fumiko ordered the nation's scientists to focus their research on weaponising pegasium. When the government massively raised taxes to put on military research, protests began to form on the nation's research facilities. Queen Fumiko declared martial law and had all protests arrested for treason. Haremm eventually became isolationist when Fumiko had the borders closed, its delegates brought back and issued a closed trade policy. The government soon bought a small chain of uninhabited islands off the coast of the Usona Federation to serve as offshore factories for Haremm and as a penal colony. Fumiko proposed the construction of the Grand Palace of Kiyushi, located in the center of Kiyushi, to serve as the monarch's home and office. The government enforced stricter rule on the colonies and enforced mandatory labor on every adult citizen. On 306 HEC, riots begin to form all over the country, as a result, the army was mobilized to suppress the rioters which led to the Haremish Massacres. Most of the army became demoralised and lost their trust in the government. A lot of soldiers began to desert, this caused civil unrest all over the nation.
On 309 HEC, with support from the Duchies and most of the army, the Queen's nephew, Daisuke Shinomiya launched a coup to dethrone Fumiko. The coup forces, which called themselves the Union of Salvation, immediately surrounded the Royal Palace. An intense battle ensued between the Queen's loyalist forces and the Union forces in an attempt to capture key locations across the nation. The nation's colonies revolted against the colonial government with the help of Union forces assigned in the colonies. Queen Fumiko was soon captured after a failed attempt to escape the nation with the remaining loyalist government officials. They were trialled for their crimes against the nation and were publicly executed.
Daisuke Shinomiya was crowned as the 7th King of Haremm. He began writing a new constitution which gave the people the power to elect their representatives in the government while maintaining the monarch as the overall leader of the nation. The nation was further devolved, granting more power to the state governments. The colonial governments that rebelled against Fumiko's rule were granted independence while retaining their allegiance to the crown. The military soon demobilized and slowly demilitarized and reorganized into the Royal Armed Defense Forces (RADF) as part of the new constitution which reduced the nation's military. The nation's technology greatly advanced due to the extensive research done during Fumiko's reign. Pegasium soon powered the majority of the nation, effectively banning the use of fossil fuels and natural energy on 360 HEC. This made the nation an economic powerhouse it is today as many things were invented utilizing pegasium that improved the nation. The long-lasting period of peace and stability led to the current Golden Age of Haremm.
The island nation is comprised of 20 islands with a total land area of 209,253 km˛. The 13 main islands are located clockwise as follows: Larsenburg, Tienjang, Seoyeon, Gwangsu, Tucana, Savonia, Istoria, Alcasia, Aldonza, Arendere, Cordelia, Edonia and Kiyushi located at the center of Amaia Sea. About 45% of the country is forested and unsuitable for agricultural, industrial, or residential use.
Most of the mountainous islands are covered in tropical rainforests. The highest mountain is Derswell Rise. It measures up to 2,925 m above sea level and is located on the island of Aldonza.
The climate of Haremm is mainly moderate with generally cool temperatures all year round. Summers are warmest in the northwestern region and coolest in the southern region. Haremm experiences light to moderate snowfall during winter.
Haremm is one of the most biologically diverse countries. Its luscious forests and extensive coastlines make it home to the diverse range of wildlife with an estimated number of over 60,000 species. The rare pegasus is native to the nation and is mostly found in the grasslands of Istoria. A large network of national parks has been established to protect important areas of flora and fauna.
The Kingdom of Haremm is a federal-state under a semi-constitutional monarchy. King Makoto Shinomiya is the current monarch and head of government of Haremm after the abdication of his father, Takeji Shinomiya, on 417 HEC. He is also the head of state of three other independent countries. The monarch is defined in the constitution as "the servant of the state and the unity of the people."
Executive power is vested in the High Council, which is appointed and presided over by the monarch after being interviewed and approved by the National Council and the Commission on Appointments. State governments are led by the Duchies, a hereditary position granted from the establishment of Haremm. The Duchy of Kiyushi is exempted from this rule as the Duke of Kiyushi is an appointed role by the King of Haremm. Legislative power is divided between federal and state legislatures. The bicameral federal parliament, the Grand Assembly, consists of the lower house, the People's Congress, and the upper house, the National Council. The 200-member People's Congress is composed of 12 members representing a federal state and 44 Representatives from the Haremish Overseas Territories. The 12 Congressmen representing their state also constitutes half of the unicameral state legislation, the Regional Assembly, with the other half being elected in parallel elections. They are elected through a double direct election. Each member has a maximum of two terms with five years each. The National Council has 52 members with each state having 4 representatives. Two members are elected by the citizens via direct elections, while the remaining 2 are appointed by the rulers of each duchy with approval of the monarch and the Commission on Appointments.
Haremish law is divided into two principal areas: private law and public law. Private law includes, in particular, civil law and criminal law. Public law includes, in particular, administrative law and constitutional law. However, in practical terms, Haremish law comprises three principal areas of law: civil law, criminal law, and administrative law.
Haremm uses a civil law system where laws are created and amended by the Parliament. The judicial power is vested in the Supreme Court, composed of a Chief Justice as its presiding officer and 25 associate justices, all of whom are appointed by the monarch after being interviewed and approved by the National Council from nominations submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council. Haremm's supreme court is specialised: for civil and criminal cases, the highest court of appeal is the Royal Court of Justice, and for other affairs, the courts are the Royal Labour Court, the Royal Social Court, the Royal Finance Court and the Royal Administrative Court. Haremm does not house any prisons and has correctional facilities which focus on the principle of restorative justice and rehabilitating criminals. Haremish correctional facilities are humane, rather than tough, with emphasis on rehabilitation. At 20%, Haremm's re-conviction rate is among the lowest in the world. The nation does not have the death penalty or sentence people to life imprisonment.
In general, the legal and institutional framework in Haremm is characterised by a high degree of transparency, accountability, and integrity, and the perception and the occurrence of corruption are very low. Haremm has ratified all relevant international anti-corruption conventions, and its standards of implementation and enforcement of anti-corruption legislation are considered very high by many international anti-corruption working groups.
Haremm is a federation composed of 13 states, which are collectively referred to as the Royal Duchies. Each state has its state constitution and is largely autonomous regarding its internal organisation. State governments are led by the Duchy, a hereditary ruler from the prominent families that had significant contributions during the Unification Wars.
The Royal Duchies were to comprise adjacent provinces with common historical, cultural, and economic traits. The basic institutional law of each autonomous community is the Statute of Autonomy. The Statutes of Autonomy establish the name of the community according to its historical and contemporary identity, the limits of its territories, the name and organisation of the institutions of government, and the rights they enjoy according to the constitution. The states have wide legislative and executive autonomy, with their parliaments and regional governments. The distribution of powers may be different for every community, as laid out in their Statutes of Autonomy since devolution was intended to be asymmetrical. Nonetheless, recent amendments to existing Statutes of Autonomy or the promulgation of new Statutes altogether, have reduced the asymmetry between the powers originally granted to the nationalities and the rest of the regions. The Royal Duchies are divided into the marquisates, which served as their territorial building blocks. In turn, the marquisates are divided into counties. The existence of both the marquisates and the counties is guaranteed and protected by the constitution, not necessarily by the Statutes of Autonomy themselves. Counties are granted autonomy to manage their internal affairs, and marquisates are the territorial divisions designed to carry out the activities of the State.
The following are the 13 Royal Duchies with their capital next to them:
1. Alcasia - Casorizio
2. Aldonza - Galiria
3. Arendere - Palento
4. Cordelia - Adashire
5. Edonia - Blaecester
6. Gwangsu - Midori
7. Istoria - Kalyrnes
8. Kiyushi - Okuzawa
9. Larsenburg - Aurinau
10. Savonia - Narancia
11. Seoyeon - Yangchen
12. Tienjang - Liaohai
13. Tucana - Zaranes
The aftermath of Fumiko's reign left Haremm with a minimal military and a pacifist state. Haremm maintains one of the lowest military budgets in Spiritus. Despite this setback, Haremm has of the most technologically advanced militaries as a result of Fumiko's military research. The Royal Armed Defense Forces (RADF) are the military and paramilitary forces of Haremm, under the monarch as the supreme commander. The military is governed by the Ministry of National Defense and primarily consists of the Royal Ground Defense Force (RGDF), the Royal Aeronaval Defense Force (RANDF), which is responsible for the protection of the nation's air space and coastal borders, and the Military Police called the Royal Guard, which also fulfils civil police duties in the rural areas of Haremm. As of 418 HEC, the armed forces had a total of 200,000 personnel with 50,000 on reserves. Haremm maintains an optimal array of advanced military airships equipped with the latest photon weaponry patrolling the nation's skies. The nation possesses several photon shield generators placed on key locations to ensure safety of the populace in case of an attack.
An autonomous corps of the military, the Royal Guard is the military police of Haremm, policing the military and civilian population alongside Haremm's other police forces. While the different branches of the Royal Guard report to separate ministries for each of their individual functions, the corps reports to the Ministry of Internal Affairs when maintaining public order and security.

As of 419 HEC, Haremm has a population of 169. 463, 524 and a population density of 809.85 people per sq. km. Its most populous city, Midori, has a population of 4,602, 810. Ranked "very high" on the Human Development Index, Haremm has one of the world's highest life expectancy, with an average of 92 years.
Haremmian Basic is the official language of the entire country, and it is the right and duty of every Haremmian to know the language. The constitution also establishes that "the other Haremish languages"—that is, the other languages of Haremm—will also be official in their respective autonomous communities in accordance to their Statutes, their organic regional legislations, and that the "richness of the distinct linguistic modalities of Haremm represents a patrimony which will be the object of special respect and protection." Created to address the issue of the language barrier in the country, Haremmian basic is a regional version of the Common Tongue wherein the words are spelt phonetically and have simpler grammar rules to ease Haremmians in learning it. Seven historical minority languages are also recognised: Zaccali, Siardin, Khivan, Ildiya, Duissani, Akmeesh, and High Anthyrian.
Haremm is officially a secular state. In all public schools in Haremm, students have to choose either a religion or ethics class. There are various religions and beliefs across Haremm. The Order of Violet takes up 12% of the population. 10.80% of Haremmians are members of the Tranquility of Yellow. 7.20% Haremmians are Arataists, a local religion established in Haremm. Finally, 1.74% of Haremmians have other religions.
Arataism, a monolatristic religion is the belief that Arata Shinomiya was god made flesh descended from the Realm of Gods to save his people and establish the Kingdom of Haremm. A part of Arataist belief is that the succeeding monarchs are prophets sent by Arata to spread wisdom and ensure the survival of the nation. The Royal Family has dismissed such claims and the pseudo-religion lost its relevance in the years to come.
Public healthcare is provided to all citizens and is free at the point of need, being paid for from general taxation. People without insurance through employers can participate in the national health insurance programs supervised by state governments. Universal health access to publicly funded health service is often considered by Haremmians as a fundamental value that ensures national health care insurance for everyone wherever they live in the country. Care is generally free for people affected by chronic diseases The government also manufactures common generic drugs to be sold at a low cost and given freely to the poorest 10% of the population.
Most pre-tertiary education is arranged at a state level. Even though many schools were started as private schools, only around 7% of students are enrolled in private institutions. Pre-school education is rare and formal, compulsory education is usually started at the age of 7.
The flexible curriculum is set by the Ministry of Education. Compulsory education is composed of elementary and high school, which together last for 11 years ( from age 7 to 17). After secondary school, graduates may either enter the workforce directly or enter tertiary education. People have a choice of either attending trade schools that provide vocational education or colleges that grant a Bachelor's Degree.
Education is free in state universities and living expenses are mainly funded by government institutions via student grants. About 42% of the population has a university or college degree. The top three universities in Haremm are the Kiyushi University, the Institute of Health and Sciences and the Haremm Institute of Technology.
Science and Technology
Haremm is a leading nation in scientific research, notably in biology, astronomy, and electronics. Scientific research and development remain important in Heremish universities, with many establishing science parks to facilitate production and cooperation with industry.
The discovery of the alien ship buried deep within the nation in the 2nd Century (HEC) was the breakthrough towards major scientific advancement. The extensive research done with the alien ship led to fruitful results with the successful reverse-engineering of the power reactors that led to the creation of pegasium. Pegasium can simply be defined as a liquid substance the result of completely harnessing solar energy to its full potential.
The Haremm Aerospace Research Organization (HARO) is Haremm's national space agency. It conducts space, planetary, and aviation research, and leads the development of rockets and satellites.
Haremm has a technologically advanced transport network consisting of high-speed subways, railways, highways, bus routes, ferry services, and air routes that crisscross the country. The Haremm Expressway Corporation operates the toll highways and service amenities en route.
Harail provides high-speed train services to all major Haremish cities. The Transnational Network is a system of subways encompassing Haremm to traverse its islands. About 20, mostly privately owned, train operating companies operate passenger trains. There are about 1150 freight trains in daily operation.
There are 70 airports in Haremm, the largest domestic airport, Shimaki Airport in Okuzawa, which is the nation's largest airport. Haremish airports handled a total of 205 million passengers on 415 HEC. The national carrier, Air Haremm, served over 25 million passengers including almost 16 million international passengers on 415 HEC. Smaller airlines provide domestic service with lower fees.
Haremm has completely discontinued its usage of natural gases and only relied on renewable energy as, means of power. Haremm is mainly powered through pegasium and has various powerplants that generate pegasium across Haremm. Wind farms are common across the nation and provide for 20% of the electricity generated. Haremm has maintained high levels of energy efficiency.
Water and Sanitation
Access to an improved water supply is universal in Haremm. 96% of the population receives piped water supply from public utilities provided by state governments and 4% receive water from their own wells or unregulated small systems, mainly in rural areas. 98% of households are connected to the sewer network.
The culture of the Haremm has been influenced by many factors including the nation's island status; its history as a regional power; as well as being a political union of 13 countries with each preserving elements of distinctive traditions, customs, and symbolism. Individualistic values and norms, such as the right of each person to choose freely how to live his or her life, breaking rules which the individual thinks are outdated or meaningless and expressing personal opinions even if it will lead to an open conflict with others are the values and norms which characterize Haremish culture. Haremmians have traditionally been characterized by a strong work ethic, cooperativeness, and humanism. While Haremmians tend to greatly value socioeconomic achievement, being ordinary or average is also generally seen as a positive attribute.
As a general description, the distinct value system of Haremmians is rooted primarily in personal alliance systems, especially those based in kinship, obligation, friendship, religion, and commercial relationships.
Other elements of the Haremish value system are optimism about the future, pessimism about present situations and events, concern, and care for other people, the existence of friendship and friendliness, the habit of being hospitable, religious nature, respectfulness to self and others, respect for the female members of society, and abhorrence of acts of cheating and thievery. Haremmians are extremely charitable by global standards.
Haremm has been considered a progressive country, which has adopted legislation and policies to support women's rights, minority rights, and LGBT rights.
Haremish culture blossomed with nationalist efforts to achieve an independent identity in the areas of literature, art, and music. This continues today in the performing arts and as a result of government support for exhibitions, cultural projects, and artwork.
The successive political regimes have always promoted artistic creation, and the creation of the Ministry of Culture in 353 HEC helped preserve the cultural heritage of the country and make it available to the public. The Ministry of Culture has been very active since its creation, granting subsidies to artists, promoting Haremish culture in the world, supporting festivals and cultural events, protecting historical monuments. The Haremish government also succeeded in maintaining a cultural exception to defend audiovisual products made in the country.
Culturally, Haremm is renowned for its art, cuisine, and music.
