Traveller's Guide - Glod

Traveller's Atlas
Glod, Province Of

The province of Glod, HEOL is located in the north [might get retconned] of the country, and is notable for its wide plains and historical nomadic traditions. Though a majority of Glodians have since settled, for most of Loafian history they followed buffalo and cattle herds across the region's thick plains in Glodbands, numbering from twenty to several hundred strong. The bands met annually on the autumn equinox to exchange news, celebrate, and hold a series of traditional games, a few of which could be deadly. A word to the wise: if a Glodian tells you they'll settle a dispute by a contest of Glodian Mouse Toss, decline if you value your life and limbs.

Nowadays, about 68% of Glodians live in permanent homes, though the remainder continues the nomadic traditions. The province remains sparsely populated, being the second least populous Loafian province but about as large as Jein and Flen. Over half of the settled population lives in the capital of Glodia (Glo-ja). The remaining Glodbands have the legal authority to cross roads at any point, causing hour-long disruptions. Combined with the province's uniform terrain and few settlements, Glod remains somewhat isolated from the rest of the Holy Empire, and is the least-visited province of the nation. Driving in Glod is often abhorrent to Loafian truckers, who have been reported to mow down bufallo after falling asleep at the wheel due to the monotony. Possibly contributing is the factor that the only radio station available across most of the province broadcasts sermons and religious talk shows.

Glod is renowned for its fascinating array of foods all based around the bison. We at the Traveller's Atlas recommend Ear of Bison, Stomach of Bison, Arse of Bison, and Chunk Of The Bison's Brain Associated With Its Sexual Urges, a local favorite. Aside from bison exports, Glodian nomads make money off of craft goods and books written by elders, which is heralded by New Age-minded Loafian and foreign youth as spiritual gospel, but in reality is merely a set of recipes for bison-based dishes. Despite the repeated protests of Glodian elders that their books are not divine treatises, they continue to be read as such worldwide, and the elders are revered as masters of the art of communing with God through bison stew.

Politically, Glod has developed its own tradition, labeled as right-wing and libertarian by most outside observers. If you told this to a Glodian, they would most likely reply, "Shut up and stop trying to characterize our politics under federal labels! Our ideology wants to be left alone. Don't tread on it!" The province also remains staunchly religious in the face of increasing secularity nationwide, with a minority who continues in the worship of the ancient pre-Loafian Glodian pantheon. In recent times 82% of Glodians supported the Imperial Coalition before that party's unfortunate demise.

The Traveller's Atlas recommends the province of Glod to those with adventurous spirits, a high tolerance for boredom, and tough stomachs. Getting to Glodia is notoriously difficult as the province refuses to sign its roads and cell service is weak - brush up on your map-reading skills. Finally, never attempt to fight a bison with a gun. You won't like how that ends.
