The United Republic of Liszteria is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by President Lane Reid with an even hand, and renowned for its museums and concert halls, complete lack of prisons, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 4.121 billion Liszterians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The tiny, corrupt, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Industry, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Prada. The average income tax rate is 2.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Liszterian economy, worth a remarkable 1,624 trillion liztras a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Information Technology, Arms Manufacturing, Tourism, and Retail. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an amazing 394,214 liztras, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Explicit slash fiction is repackaged for kindergarten kids as stories about friends cuddling friends, scientists earn more grant money for reproducing old experiments than trying anything new, the nation's countrysides are littered with landmines due to ongoing family disputes, and the government has enacted freedom of information. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Liszteria's national animal is the Harpy Eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Liszteria is ranked 4,558th in the world and 16th in Novo Brasil for Most Developed, scoring 92.69 on the Human Development Index.
