The United Houses of Pasli

History: The first Paslian families, those of bloodlines now belonging to House Liu, Min, and Fang were apart of the first expeditions to Piram in 151FF. Already wealthy aristocrats they saw the valuable farmland in Piram and decided to invest heavily in its growth and expansion for the new province. Choosing to spend copious change to import very valuable seeds to plant. This family was already well known to the Agricultural industry and held many assets and favors around the Empire. But the farmlands of Piram quickly became the bread and butter of this family, having first picks of the land they had an early advantage in its development and grew even more rich selling it off to the early colonialists, Bozhuks, and within the greater Empire. This system worked excellently until in 164FF when the Lord of this family died unexpectedly, leaving no clear heir. By this time the family had packed up and established its head of household in Piram, making a city named Pasli and were easily the richest non-Karlovians in the territory. But without a clear heir, the 3 oldest sons began fighting and it slowly escalated into near civil war before the Karlovian navy threatened to "restore order" to the farmlands if they couldn't figure something out. Under this threat they managed to more or less peacefully split the land up between them, each giving themselves a monopoly on an aspect of their father's businesses and industry forming the first 3 houses of Liu, Min, and Fang. Once all the dust settled though they saw that many of their out of territory assets were already seized or taken over. Selling off the rest of their assets collectively the 3 Families, now the richest in all Piram from their selling of assets 10-fold centralized their efforts in Piram. They used their money to sponsor industrialization, expansion of farmland, expansion of diversity, they establish charities and charters to bring people to Piram and settle it to increase its population. This expansion led to a few of their underlings expanding rapidly and earning the funds to start acting independently of the 3 Houses rule. And each family, not wanting to have another conflict gathered those rich enough to a conference in Pasli to sort out their future. It was there, in 186FF that the Paslian Accords were signed, and the United House of Pasli was formed. In which the 3 great monopolies were further split to accommodate 8 families, all of them nominally independent within the province but would all swear fealty to a Rexum, elected for life among anyone who can pay the price for entrance(A fee so large it is only really achieved by the 8 Great Houses).

They first elected a member of House Liu as Rexum, Rexum Xi Liu, and every Rexum since has been from House Liu. Xi Liu was the last Rexum of the triarchy before the United Houses were formed and so was considered an obvious choice. The Current Rexum, Rexum Thao Liu III came into power 5 years ago after the death of his father from cancer.

The 8 Great Houses of Pasli:
House Liu-Monopoly on non-farming manufactured goods
House Dylcur-Monopoly on Grains
House Arnet-Monopoly on Vegetables
House Min-Monopoly on Fruits
House Addis-Monopoly on Farming manufactured goods
House Pavlo-Monopoly on Tobacco/smoking herbs
House Fang-Monopoly on Natural Fibers
House Kobeshay-Monopoly on Livestock

Within those houses, dozens of cadet branches have their own sub-monopolies in control of the Great Houses.

Government:
Population: 41,000
Capital: Pasli(pop. 6,000)

Rexum: Thao Liu III
General Director: Tomas Liu

The military is nominally under the control of the Rexum and Pasli. But de facto it is under the control of the Houses who own and operate their fleets and armies. When the Rexum summons the armies the Houses are required to bring their fleets to the Rexums command, but of course, they can choose to not send any or send over less than what they need too. Pasli is not an overly militaristic state. Keeping a force large enough to project its power and keep out pirates but not one to contend with the military balance of power in the province. Preferring trade and intrigue to get its foreign goals seen through.

While its navy is respectable, the Paslian ground forces are very small. One of the smallest in the entire province. With a majority of its manpower tied up in the fields. Despite this set back though its ground forces have largely prided itself for being professionally trained and maintained to Karlovian standards in patrolling the United Houses and defending its collective interests both domestically and abroad. With each Houses standing armies only every numbering a couple hundred and their separate wealth it has allowed for each the standing army to all operate repeating rifles. Greatly increasing their effectiveness in combat. Reserves and mobilized soldiers though use more typically breech or muzzleloader rifles as standard issue.

Ship Classes:
Auriol-The biggest success of House Liu in the realm of shipbuilding. This ship class expanded on the Aurai class to a ship specially designed to keep up with pirates. "Reverse-engineering" Black-kite ships and synthesizing many of their plans into a speedy, yet reliable ship managed to earn the Aurai class the little bit extra speed it needed to actually keep up with pirate vessels at full speed.

Rate-Dirigible

Eta-Built using the Zephyr hull the Eta class is another Liu domestic design. The Eta is built to be a good medium-sized, anti-personnel ship built to operate as a bridge between the Auriol and Stormruler class. It is the largest ship to be domestically designed by House Liu.

Rate-Fighting
Speed-90 kph
