The Republic of Negra Modelo is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its museums and concert halls, multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 309 million Negra Modeloans are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute, pro-business government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Industry, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Corona City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3.8%.

The all-consuming Negra Modeloan economy, worth 35.4 trillion pesos a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Soda Sales. Average income is an impressive 114,641 pesos, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 575,213 per year while the poor average 12,801, a ratio of 44.9 to 1.

Several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, court verdicts are predictable to within a hundredth of a percentage point, intellectual snobbery has the cognoscenti sneering at anyone who doesn't have an opinion on the semiological drift of Umberto Eco's works, and elected officials often serve for decades in a single term. Crime, especially youth-related, is pervasive, probably because of the absence of a police force. Negra Modelo's national animal is the Porcupine, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Negra Modelo is ranked 89,651st in the world and 102nd in New Western Empire for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector, scoring 369.33 on the Henry Ford Productivity Index.
