The Dictatorship of Ordeenstaat-Burgund is a very large, safe nation, notable for its keen interest in outer space, ubiquitous missile silos, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 103 million Burgundians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 66.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but stagnant Burgundian economy, worth 1.86 trillion Marks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, quite specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Tourism, and Beef-Based Agriculture. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 18,026 Marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The nation's most popular sport is sabotaging foreigners' hopes and dreams, citizens who don't attend the nation's massive military parades tend to disappear overnight, royalist is the most offensive slur in the Burgundian language, and one-man canoes fitted with the latest tracking technology leave no room for one man. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ordeenstaat-Burgund's national animal is the We don't have any animals, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Ordeenstaat-Burgund is ranked 83,048th in the world and 39th in The Democratic Republic for Highest Unexpected Death Rate, scoring 31.38 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
