The Ersatz Republic of Salsacia is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by comrade Chilikov with an iron fist, and remarkable for its complete lack of prisons, zero percent divorce rate, and rampant corporate plagiarism. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 1.421 billion comrades are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Education, Administration, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Starigrad. The average income tax rate is 91.0%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Proletarian economy, worth 239 trillion ration cards a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Trout Farming. Average income is an impressive 168,475 ration cards, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Unshaven men are viewed with suspicion in courts of law, the judicial system legislates morality, professionals are ready to retire by the time they receive permission to use their credentials, and the suicide rate mysteriously skyrockets during census years. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Salsacia's national animal is the jackal, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Collective Consciousness.

Salsacia is ranked 140,041st in the world and 4,240th in the Pacific for Highest Foreign Aid Spending, scoring 46.08 on the Clooney Contribution Index.
