The Free Land of Steraz is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Foxian with an iron fist, and remarkable for its avant-garde cinema, frequent executions, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 5.303 billion Sterazians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Defense, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Foxa. The average income tax rate is 77.0%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Sterazian economy, worth 413 trillion foxins a year, is quite specialized and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Trout Farming, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Uranium Mining. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 77,974 foxins, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.8 times as much as the poorest.

The "swords to plowshares" policy has created a generation of farmers that can kill a yak from 200 yards away, students who do not recite the national anthem each morning have to drop and give their teacher 50, police protocol is to arrest anyone who looks a bit foreign, and factories are regularly demolished to make way for low-cost housing areas. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Steraz's national animal is the fox, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Foxsism.

Steraz is ranked 62,268th in the world and 3,341st in Balder for Most Cultured, scoring 69 on the Snufflebottom-Wiggendum Pentatonic Scale.
