The Federal Republic of The Pacific Ocean Islands is a huge, socially progressive nation, renowned for its public floggings, irreverence towards religion, and complete absence of social welfare. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 211 million Pacific Ocean Islandsians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Industry, Defense, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 4.4%.

The powerhouse Pacific Ocean Islandsian economy, worth 20.1 trillion pounds a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Retail, Gambling, and Arms Manufacturing. Average income is 95,074 pounds, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 390,812 per year while the poor average 15,254, a ratio of 25.6 to 1.

Fast-food chefs regularly win Health Innovation Awards for spitting on burgers, major boxing matches are held in government buildings, it's considered a civil right to be allowed to neglect and mistreat your own children, and judges are all-powerful. Crime, especially youth-related, is a major problem, probably because of the absence of a police force. The Pacific Ocean Islands's national animal is the bottlenose dolphin, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

The Pacific Ocean Islands is ranked 131,796th in the world and 5,274th in the South Pacific for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 24.7 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
