The Geography of Tholosis

The geographical region that is today known as Tholosis is bounded on the north and west by the Mountains of Armon, on the east by shores, and on the south by the river Besh. The region as a whole consists of an approximate size of 170,000 square kilometers. The Tholosian basin itself is a warm, damp, and heavily forested region in the north-west, mellowing out to river-crossed pastures as one approaches the coastline. Its steep mountains and neigh uncharted rainforests make the Tholosian basin a prime tourist attraction, in addition to promoting a love of exploration and the outdoors among the Federation's people. However, the fast-moving rivers, treacherous mountains, and intricate underground cave systems make the Tholosian basin one of the most dangerous hiking destinations in the region, contributing to about 25% of the federation's deaths.
