The Republic of Tmth is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, strictly enforced bedtime, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 250 million Tmthians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Industry. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8.3%.

The powerhouse Tmthian economy, worth 22.9 trillion dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Automobile Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 91,583 dollars, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 274,135 per year while the poor average 23,921, a ratio of 11.5 to 1.

Fishermen take out second mortgages to afford the yearly fishing permit, organised sports are frowned upon as frivolous, all recreational drugs are legal, and citizens are encouraged to show displeasure with politicians by poking them with sharp metal sticks. Crime, especially youth-related, is relatively low. Tmth's national animal is the golden retriever, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Tmth is ranked 49,982nd in the world and 13th in Right to Life for Most Extensive Civil Rights, with 67.59 Martin Luther King, Jr. Units.
