DESCRIBE ECONOMY
The culture of Triekru has been shaped primarily by its geography and historical events, as well as by internal and external forces. Foreign influences are prevalent due to the nation's historically mercantile and explorative nature. Triekruans refer to their country as the 'Jewel of the South'. This term has been used since the X century, when the cultural rebirth and the Golden Age of Triekru took place. During that period, Triekru ,and more specifically Polis, experienced massive population growth and played a major role as one of the world's centers of high culture, with arts, literature, science and technology flourishing. The importance of education and scientific advancement in modern Triekru can also be traced back to this period, with prominent scientists, philosophers and artists playing a major role in their development. The nation contains some of the world's oldest universities, has greatly contributed to science, technology and medicine, and is the birthplace of many scientists and inventions.
Triekru has been considered a socially progressive nation throughout its modern history and has been considered to be a center of social liberalism and tolerance. There are legislation and policies protecting women's rights, LGBT rights and minority rights, excluding religious minorities where there is a complete absence of anti-discrimination policies. Triekru has been considered to be an international leader of the sexual revolution with sex equality being promoted and the state as well as the citizens becoming very liberal regarding LGBT matters.
Triekru's national personification is Nike, originating from ancient Triekruan culture and mythology. She's the goddess of victory and is often portrayed flying around the battlefield and bestowing the laurel wreath to the victors of a battle. The leviathan and the blue whale are the national animals while the trident is a popular symbol used to represent Triekru throughout its history. Besides the national motto, 'United we progress into the future', Triekru ,and sometimes more specifically its capital Polis, has unofficially adopted the title of 'the Jewel of the South' since antiquity. It is also referred to as 'Elysium' or 'Elysian Fields'. These names are the equivalent of paradise in Triekruan folk tradition.
