Aramanchovia's LC Campaign 2018

Who am I?

I am a long standing TSP resident that has been part of this region since April 2011. I have been involved with most parts of the region in time (CRS, cabinet, legislator etc), along with a short (a bit less than 2 month) stint previously in the Local Council backfilling someone that resigned. You may have seen my name near the top of a lot of the regional rankings too - I still actively answer issues daily 7+ years on.

Why am I running for LC?

I have said before that I usually will leave the limited LC positions to newer nations to give themselves a chance to prove themselves. That said, I do have plenty of ideas myself for improving the region and I believe it would be easier to implement these myself rather than hope someone else introduce them. As I only had a very short time in the LC previously, I didn't get to do a lot of what I would have liked to, but I did start the daily news dispatch, something that the LC still carries on to this day. I have plenty more ideas...

What will I do if elected to the LC?

I know there is a lot of angst about moderation practices lately. I will look at reviewing the RMB etiquette / rules, in particular easing up with regards to double posting. As a feeder region, we need to be a welcoming community and people new to the site won't always know these rules. These rules are great, just not policed well, and if elected, I will only be suppressing posts when they get disruptive or break other rules. RP will still belong on the RP boards though.

As mentioned we are a feeder region and as such we get 1/5 of all new nations. I would be looking at reviewing this introduction experience. We currently have 12 dispatches linked to the WFE, and from memory at least 3 dispatches are linked in the welcoming telegram (it has been a while since I have seen this). It has to be confusing for anyone that is new here. As such, I would be looking at implementing a mentor scheme for newer nations, where older nations help out with any queries they may have. This is not a new idea, it has been promised by people elected as MoRA / Delegate previously, but never implemented. It is easiest to organize on site and I see this will have great benefits for newer nations to have people they can call on to explain things.

In addition to the above, there would be more opportunities for experienced nations to assist, whether by welcoming newer nations (which already happens, but can be improved), being a contact to help with explaining issue effects, flag creators etc. Basically I would hope to get as many people as possible involved in forming a welcoming experience for new nations, and hopefully getting more of these new nations to stay and be involved themselves in time.

I know there are a lot of nations here that aren't new nations, and I haven't forgotten them either. I plan to have a few regular fun events and games on site, such as hangman, trivia etc and may create a regional puppet (where we hold polls to determine issue responses etc), but it will depend on whoever else is elected - I will be working with them and may have limited poll abilities etc at times. You can guarantee you won't be forgotten though, there will be plenty going on for everyone.

One other minor thing I may look at is clarifying the time for LC elections. As it is now, these are usually held once forum based elections complete and are held at "some time" during Feb, June and Oct. I think we deserve better than that and would look to see if a fixed date can be found - no point having HYPE! for 3 weeks with nothing happening! I will discuss this one as anyway- I may be alone in wanting this changed.

Final thoughts

I know that's a lot of info and thanks for reading this far. I am not going to beg for votes or suggest who to vote for - vote for whoever you feel has the best vision for TSP, as I know there are plenty of strong candidates. I would really like to see a lot of these ideas implemented for the good of the region - hopefully other candidates consider these if I am unsuccessful.

I have covered a lot with this campaign, but I believe from experience that it should all be achievable. Obviously as I can only get one of three LC positions, some of these ideas may clash with what others in the LC want to do, so some things may end up not happening. However, I will do my best to implement as much of this as possible, with the good thing being once it is implemented, it will be easy to continue (or scrap if things don't work) for any future LC.

I wrote this in a bit of a rush, so it probably needs some clarification. Feel free to ask any questions you have of me either by telegram or tagging me in a regional message board post- I will get back to you within a day and include responses below.

Thank you everyone. I really like the community here in TSP but I always think we can improve on a few things - hopefully my ideas will help do so.
