Since the formation of Christian Australia, the trend of religion has been upwards. Christian Australia now has one of the highest rates of Christians and church attendance in Oceania. 96% of the population profess to be of a Christian denomination. The largest denominations in order are Anglican, Catholic and the Salvation Army. The Uniting Church was previously excluded as a Christian denomination due to its stance on homosexuality. Since changes were made in 2018 it is now included. Church attendance is around 65-80% weekly. 4 major groups take up the rest of the population. A number of Christian based religions but are not deemed true Christianity, such as Jehovah's Witness and Mormons, make up around 1% of the population. A further 1% are of the Muslim faith. 1% are agnostic or atheist. 1% are Modern Jewish (the Christian term used to distinguish Jews from Ancient Judaism before the time of Jesus). A few number of Hindus and Sikhs are found but are not large enough to make a percentage point.
