Atlantis is a chill region dedicated to players that want to make friends, socialise, have fun. We offer the chance to get involved in our government, to roleplay with other players and to have a real say about the way the region is run. We are mainly based on the mythical island described by Plato, though Atlantis means different things to different people due to it's wide variety of uses in popular culture throughout the ages, so you will find a mix of different styles of Atlantis here.

Members of Atlantis are encouraged to join the Discord where we play games, roleplay and host events.

Everyone is welcome in Atlantis and can make their region what they want it to be. That being said, we do have some rules.

No trolling (it's annoying), no flaming (why would you?), no real insults, no advertising of other regions, no racism, homophobia or other discriminatory remarks. Keep it nice! Basically, don't be a jerk.

Depending on the severity offenders may find themselves warned or even the subject of a whooping with the BanTrident. Our Delegate loves using the Trident, so be warned!

Our map is an antique and is currently undergoing conservation work. Once it is finished, it will be available again for new territorial claims. Until then, feel free to peek in the spoilers (it's 16 mb if you are on limited data - smaller image will be here soon - next time I play with it - i need breakfast).

While the mythical island of Atlantis was a Kingdom, we have decided to lock our Queen up in the roleplay dungeon. We let her out occasionally if we fancy a bit of pomp. Our day-to-day government is formed of three Archons. Generally speaking, the Governor and Delegate are Archons. Sometimes the remaining seat is given to someone who has made a significant contribution to the region in recent times, but generally it is rotated around interested candidates. Feel free to sign up and you will get a turn.

Government Officials

Archon and Delegate: The Assembly and Demos of Madrocea
As Delegate and Archon, Madrocea is a the most visible member of the government. He has a particular interest in Border Control, meaning he gets to look after the Trident, the ancient symbol of Atlantian power. Armed with the Trident he moderates the region, smiting trolls, racists, homophobes and flamers and even the odd invader.

Archon and Governor: The Teachings of Lemmingtopias
Lemmingtopias is one of the longer-standing members of the region and controls the Governing seat. He likes to welcome diplomats and represents the interests of the region through bribery, flattery and sub-machine guns. He can usually be persuaded to run sporting events so long as it doesn't interfere with his naps.

Patrician: Bettisia
Bettisia publishes the popular daily briefing on the WA Census and likes to give motivational and wellbeing advice, as well as tips on how to most efficiently [s]control[/s] govern our nations. Her term ends in March 2024.

Music
The Juke Box is located in the WFE. Anyone can request songs, though The Assembly and Demos of Madrocea likes to hog it.

History
Atlantis was founded in early 2003 and has been inhabited ever since, making it one of the oldest and noblest regions on the game. It's first Delegate was Sovereign states. Over the years it went through many forms until it was invaded and almost entirely destroyed by a vicious band of raiders in 2007. The region was liberated by regional native The Teachings of Lemmingtopias and his band of merry men and refounded to protect it from future destruction. Since then Atlantis has changed much, going through two golden ages. It has had many delegates and many nations whose contribution we can be proud of. The future history of our region is up to you.

Politics
Atlantis has no formal political ideology and welcomes Nations and players of any political background, in the belief that no matter what our differences in opinion, we can still get along and co-operate to create a region that works for everyone.

We accept Embassies from Regions that meet one of the following criteria:

• The Region has some kind of a diplomatic relationship with Atlantis,

• The Region has a historical connection to our region or is effectively the successor to a region that once did, or

• There is some other reason why the establishment of Embassies would be prudent.

We reserve the right to close embassies of regions that are no longer active communities.

How do I become King?
We have a roleplay called Tales of Atlas. It is a brutal, bloody world situated around the Court of the Palace of the Atlas Kings. Through intrigue, treason and murder you can make your way up to the throne. Or die trying.

In early 2020 it was decided that Atlantis would no longer have a King. This is not necessarily permanent, but there are currently no plans to restore the Crown. We now have an informal government consisting of three Archons. If you wish to become an Archon, contact The Teachings of Lemmingtopias.

Can I be Delegate? Is there an endo cap?
"Fortune favours the Bold." Anyone can be WA Delegate, there is no endo cap.

Who is Orangutang Fiction?
Little is known about the player of this nation, only that he snoozes a lot and responds well to treats. Apparently he can't spell either.

How do I get involved in the region or help it's development?
A great way to get involved is to come up with an idea and do it. Whether it is a roleplay, a sporting event, a fun community night. You don't need our permission, you can organise it yourself or with a few region-mates. If you let us know what you want to do we might be able to help with publicity and make the community facilities more appropriate for what you are doing.
