The Albydian Fascist Republic (1922-1938)

Brief History
Benito Mussolini's March on Rome caused many troubles for Italy's colonies. While most colonies had stayed neutral on the fascist takeover, Albydia was fervently supportive of it. This was because they saw it as a chance to declare independence. Mussolini was initially a friend of the Albydians, even forcing the governor of Italian Somaliland to resign due to the brief First Somali-Albydian war of November 1922 to January 1923. Unfortunately for Albydia, Mussolini still saw it as an integral part of Italy. Mussolini did not want to alienate his only few supporters in Africa, so he decided to reassert control over Albydia slowly. He started with signing a bilinguality agreement in March of 1924 where Albydia would teach Italian and Afro-Saxon in schools. Then, he made a trade deal with Albydia in June of 1925 that was heavily weighted in Italy's favor. In 1926, Mussolini made a deal with the Albydians to grant citizenship to all Italians who wish to move to Albydia, though they would have to pay a 50 Deenar fee, which is roughly worth 1500 USD, to get into the country. This peace, however, could not last forever. Albydia was not willing to give up its independence less than a decade after winning it, so in 1929, they made a deal that reduced all Italian influence to a 5B Deenar fee that would be payed in full by 1934. The Albydians never planned on paying the fee, but the deal got the Italians out for a while.

The Second Italo-Albydian war began in March of 1935, after Mussolini had sent his ultimatum demanding a full payment of Albydia's debt plus 10% interest. Albydia bravely defied the Italians. Unfortunately, this led to the Italians invading the country. Initially, the Albydians performed well against the Italians. But then, following the fall of Abyssinia, they started taking much larger losses. This was because the entire Italian army in East Africa was on a mission to destroy Albydia. The capital city of Snyderston was be taken on October 23, 1938. Following this, the president and a few other politicians fled to London. Here, they would continue the fight. The Albydian people also continued to fight the Italians through guerrilla warfare. The Albydian Government in Exile joined the Allies in 1940, following the Italian invasion of France. Thus, Albydia was the only fascist country to fight for the Allies.

Prelogue
Albydian soldiers fought very bravely for the Italian army in both the Libyan war and World War 1. It was the Albydians who ultimately saved Venice from Austrian occupation in 1917 by stopping the Austrian advance at Caporetto. Albydians also saved the Italians at Benghazi in 1912, right as the Ottomans were about to retake the city and end Italy's attempted conquest of Libya. Albydian soldiers were some of the best men who graced the Italian army, though Albydia still suffered under Italian oppression and colonization.

Albydia had faced the same problem as Senegal, Nepal, and Tanganyika. This was because though all four were prized by their empires for their Seaxen, Tirailleurs, Gorkhas, and Askari respectively, their contributions had done nothing to bring them closer to independence.
