Xaera siriusia

The Siriusian (Xaera siriusia), also known as a spacenoid, is a species of Reptilians originating from the planet of Xaera. A member of the Xaeran Mammalian Reptile family, Xaeraforme, it is the second largest living reptile originating from Xaera, growing to a maximum height of 3.7 meters (12 ft) and weighing up to approximately 50 kilograms (110 lb). Xaera siriusia is a subspecies of Xaera venator, and considered the next step in evolution for space travel. Xaera siriusia has no identified origin point other than space.

Description

Adult Siriusians stand at about 3.7 meters (12 ft) for males and 3.6 meters (11.8 ft) for females, and typically weight 45kg for males and 50kg for females. Siriusians are well known for their incredibly small frames, caused by the low-G of the Siriusian ships. Their skin, unlike their Xaeran ancestors, are no longer able to deflect shallow hits, but still do possess the grey glassiness, albeit lighter. Siriusians also possess digitigrade legs, in which they stand on their digits (toes). Siriusians also possess four large ears in the same Primary over Secondary set-up as the Xaerans-- the Aures Pelagus (Main Ears) are mounted above the Minor Auribus (Minor Ears) and can hear for quite a distance. Like Xaerans, Siriusians are sensitive to noise, but not quite on the same level.

Siriusians typically possess a somewhat athletic build, with somewhat pronounced muscles. Unlike Xaerans, typically only the females have a higher muscle mass in their lower torso, with males having their muscle mass more averaged out. They also have a lighter skeleton, resulting in weaker bones than Xaerans. Siriusian Ear muscles, like that of the Xaeran, are possibly the strongest of any of the Xaera species. Siriusians also have a quite heavy bite force, at 2,600 psi. Like Xaerans, their upper beaks are the strongest bones in their body.

Siriusians possess the same gene structure as Xaerans when it comes to eye-color, however it will still be explained below;

Siriusians have two genes regarding eye color; Gold, often represented with a capital G, and Weiß, often represented with a lowercase w. The two genes determine whether the eyes are Golden or White. The lack of either gene results in black eyes, often called Schwarz, represented with Sc. If a Siriusian has both genes (Gw), it results in Heterochromia Major, in which there is one eye of each color, and Heterochromia Minor, in which both eyes have a pattern of the colors. Commonality of each Gene setup is as follows:

    1. Gold
    2. Weiß
    3. Heterochromia Major
    4. Schwarz
    5. Heterochromia Minor

Aesthetic Gene Disorders

Siriusian Genetic Disorders are less common, and are usually caused by crossbreeding of too different subspecies of Siriusian. Similar to cats, only females show this Genetic Disorder, as a male Siriusian will only possess one X chromosome. Crossbreeding tends to lead to Verformterüstung in females, with patterns representing the skin color of each parent on their skin. This will commonly result in intricate patterns of White, Light Grey, and Dark Grey skin.

Dimorphism

Main article: Xaeran Dimorphism

Siriusian Dimorphism is very similar to that of Xaerans, with the only exception being the female reproductive organ of the Siriusian, which is specially adapted for the Zero-G environments of a Siriusian starship.

Behavior and Ecology

Siriusians, unlike Xaerans, typically gather on starships. These starships, usually a Carrier or larger, tend to serve as de facto "Capitals" for so-called Fleets. Siriusians have become quite aggressive but also isolationist, attacking nearby vessels to gain resources, or attacking each other for said resources.

Diet

Siriusians, like Xaerans, are carnivores, and as such only eat meat. They will typically consume any non-poisonous creature on they can, though strictly don't consume each other. Unlike Xaerans, Siriusians do not have cultural taboos over unprepared meats. Like their Xaeran ancestors, Siriusians possess a strong immune system so they typically can survive most parasites that try to inhabit their body. Siriusian teeth are formed in a shape that is capable of cutting cleanly through bone.

Reproduction

Siriusians don't have a fixed mating cycle. Much like humans, Siriusians reproduce at random, with the time period ranging throughout the year. Siriusians often don't speak of reproduction itself openly, but it isn't as much of a cultural taboo due to the intimacy of ship life. Due to Siriusian family structures being similar to that of Xaerans, it is often for there to be multiple male and female partners contributing to the creation of a 'batch'. Unlike Female Xaerans, Female Siriusians are not as aggressive during mating. After insemination between two and four LinkOva are fertilized and grow into Siriusian newborns in an incubation period of 6-7 Earth Months (182-212 Earth Days). Siriusians, like Xaerans, are Never born in singles or odd pairs. Typically Siriusians are born in pairs of two and four. Siriusians also give livebirth, the process of which is described as short but extremely painful, lasting between 1-8 hours. Unlike humans, at childbirth, there are typically less complications due to the pelvis and head size, with rather little difficulty of a newborn being passed through the birth canal. Assisting in childbirth is a thin membrane that is described as "a very smooth substance, like heavily polished glass, but malleable like wet tissue paper". The membrane is often broken either during childbirth or by the newborn shortly after childbirth.
