June 14, 1977 shoe banging incident

NOTE: This incident is unrelated to the October 12, 1960 incident at the 902nd Plenary Meeting at the UN General Assembly.

The 1977 Shoe Banging Incident was an incident on 14 of June, 1977, that occurred at the 79th Senate Assembly in Eripolis City, United States of Eripolis. The Assembly was to address national issues, most specifically corruption issues within the New Way Party, investigated jointly by the Conservative and Communist Parties.

Jake Manna, the 23-year-old head of the New Way Party, was testifying before the United States Senate on charges of corruption, include bribing Bob Winston, head of the Liberal Party, to not investigate the New Way Party on a skyjacking incident the previous year, and bribing house speaker Hector Ibbott to not prosecute Maxtopian spies. Manna provoked then-President Nikita Khrushchev by calling him "a Soviet thief...a bastard, a coward wanting to get in my party's way and prevent my party from purifying Eripolis, and who wants to prosecute our Maxtopian allies". After Manna's speech, Khrushchev, by then 83 years old, brandished his left shoe and banged it repeatedly on his desk, yelling, "This coward, this toady of Fascism wants to subvert values that make Eripolis great...he wants to destroy democracy and become Eripolisian Stalin! He supports the imbeciles in Maxtopia, who hate Eripolis!" After Khrushchev's condemnation of Manna, several Communist Party Senators voiced their agreement with Khrushchev, while New Way Party members decried Khrushchev and voiced their support for Manna. The agitation grew so loud that House Speaker Ibbott declared the meeting adjourned, and took out a sledgehammer and banged it as hard as he could on a large gong he had next to him for controlling large crowds.
