We, the sovereign nations of Union of Democrats, in order to forge more cohesive bonds between our peoples, to safeguard peace and improve diplomatic relations, to advance achievements of the region, to promote democracy and good governance, to flourish in prosperity, to guarantee liberty and equality, forever united in diversity, establish this CONSTITUTION OF THE UNION OF DEMOCRATS.
Citizenship & Rights
All nations that satisfy the following shall henceforth be known as citizens:
Reside in the Union of Democrats
Consent to this Constitution
All citizens are entitled to:
Freedom from discrimination in all forms
Participate in the legislative process
A fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial court concerning any criminal charge
Freedom from prosecution over the same criminal charge twice, unless sufficient new evidence warrants a retrial
File a lawsuit against any entity within the region
The Executive
The leader of the region shall henceforth be known as the President
The President shall be elected every 3 months
The President shall be responsible for:
Appointing and dismissing the members of the ministerial body of the Executive, henceforth known as the Cabinet
Serving as the head of the Cabinet
Speaking for the region on interregional platforms
The Cabinet shall consist of:
The Minister of Foreign Affairs who shall be responsible for the embassies, appointing and dismissing ambassadors to other regions and representing the region on interregional forums
The Minister of Recruitment who shall be responsible for recruiting new nations into the region
Any additional portfolios deemed necessary by the President to operate the region
An appointment to the Cabinet must be confirmed with a simple majority in the legislative authority of the region, henceforth known as the Democratic Assembly
The President may be immediately replaced with a simple majority of the WA nations of the Democratic Assembly in favour of such a motion
The Democratic Assembly
The Democratic Assembly shall be a unicameral legislature
The Democratic Assembly shall consist of all the citizens of the region
The Members of the Democratic Assembly shall be responsible for:
Proposing and voting on new laws and amendments to existing laws
Electing one of the Members of the Democratic Assembly to serve as the Speaker
The Speaker shall be responsible for:
Organising the activities of the Democratic Assembly
Maintaining an order of legislation to be considered by the Democratic Assembly
Maintaining an official record of all bills proposed and passed
Communicating information of bills, amendments, and voting records to the Democratic Assembly
Representing the Democratic Assembly to the Executive in matters requiring urgent and direct communication
Delegating the aforementioned responsibilities to another Member of the Democratic Assembly in their absence
The Speaker may be immediately replaced with a simple majority of the Democratic Assembly in favour of such a motion
The Supreme Court
All judicial authority shall be vested in a tribunal, henceforth known as the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court shall consist of three members, henceforth known as Justices, appointed by the President
The Justices shall be appointed for a term of 6 months
The Justices shall be responsible for:
Handling legal disputes between citizens
Hosting court cases to settle criminal charges
Voting on said criminal charges upon the conclusion of a fair and public hearing
Being the highest authority on the interpretation of all regional law
An appointment of a Justice must be confirmed with a simple majority of the Democratic Assembly in favour
A Justice shall be prohibited from holding any other government portfolio during their tenure
A Justice may be immediately replaced with a simple majority in the Democratic Assembly
Amendments
An amendment to this Constitution may be enacted with a simple majority of the Democratic Assembly in favour
