Government
The Government is led by a Prime Minister,The Prime Minister is selected by His Majesty with consultation with the Heads of the Political Parties of the country & the Parliament. Then the Prime Minister appoints the 30 Member Cabinet called the Council of Ministers with the Consultation of His Majesty.
The Bicameral Parliament is called the National Assembly with 650 members elected every 5 years, or when a snap election is held.
The Upper House is called the National Council it has 200 Counselors
The Lower House is called the National Assembly it has 450 Deputies
The Liberals, Progressive Party has 120 MPs
The Moderate Labour Party has 200 MPs
The Conservatives National Party has 120 MPs
The Nationalists 5 MPs
Independents 5 MPs
The Upper House is Appointed by His Majesty to represent all regions & society of the Sultanate.
The MPs in the National Assembly have the right to question Ministers, their Deputies & other Government Officers, about policy, the budget & to oversee government departments & Draft Laws for his Majesty to sign & also advice the Government & His Majesty.
The current government is a National coalition government of all parties.
