Komashi (Komashi/Aizawan: 駒四, Zaychikian: Коматщьия, Standartnyy: Komatshch'iya, see other names below), officially known as the Arakami Realm of Komashi (Komashi: 駒四の荒神王国, Komashi no Arakami-ōkoku, Aizawan: Komashi no Kōjin-ōkoku), seldom known through its anglicised name Comatchia, is a sovereign state located in northwestern Usonea. It is a theocratic monarchy, ruled by the Kamigami no Maru. Its capital is Amatsukō. The kingdom's largest city is Yukino KDK, housing 19 million people.

Known through the famous nomenclature Four Nations (四国, Shikoku), the modern state of Komashi was comprised of four different civilisations and nation-states: the Kingdom of Aizawa, the Mogatsu Domain, the Yukino River civilisations, and the Azanami Domain. The four civilisations encountered a common ground on modern Amatsukō in 1030, and there, with the blessing of their Arakami patron goddess, Amane, saw the signing of the Convention of Shikoku-Minato, uniting the four civilisations into the first definitive Komashi nation-state, that being Shikoku.

For a long period, the state of Shikoku entered a golden age, with a massive population and economic boom. However, Shikoku entered a period of decline, and after the Kishin conflict, the state broke up in 1509 and a large number of Shikoku fragmented into huge divisions, led by multiple rich landowners (地主, jinushi). A year later, the Domain Wars broke out, with many landowners competing for control, alongside the Original Four Nations. After the Domain Wars ended, the First Komashi Confederation was formed, comprised of monarchic realms.

Etymology

The name of Komashi, in both the Komashi language and in general use, is Komashi, from the Shikoku-kana characters 駒四. The character 駒 (koma) means "piece", and 四 (shi) is one of the names for the number four. The name Komashi literally translates to "Four Pieces", which is a poetic term to describe the proper nomenclature of the realm, Shikoku (四国, which in turn means four nations).

Other names of Komashi include:

  • Коматщьия/Komatshch'iya (Zaychikian)

  • Komatscheland (Varforian)

  • 四国 (Shikoku, Aizawan and Komashi)

  • Коматшія/Komatshiya (Mykonevni)
