Service in World War II

Mirimen was the first North American nation to join the war in Europe, using its skills as a coastal nation to help the British Army create “commandos” and the first iteration of allied paratroopers. In 1942, several Mirimen Infanteers joined the British Army to assault Bruneval, capturing German radar and vital intelligence.

Two years later in June 1944, Mirimen sent 400,000 of its sons to help liberate Europe from the clutches of Nazi Germany. By the end of the war, many Mirimen units were posted in Frankfurt, Germany.

One Unit would write its name in the history books. The Ezburk-born Riflemen from the 12th Regiment were the first western allies to meet their Soviet companions in Cottbus, April 1945. 297,821 Mirimen Men died in the conflict.

Today, we remember this by sending school children to Normandy every year on the anniversary of D Day - so they will know of their forefathers sacrifice.
