Hello, I am James Valerian. This article is about the history of our great nation, Thialrer. If you have any questions or queries about Thialren history, send a letter to the Ministry of History or your local University. You could also check out Encyclopædia Thelranica. I hope you find this article educational and interesting.

Grand Duchy of Thialrer

Thialrer began as a small group of four tribes nearby The Black Hawks in the Klocian region of 1st Epitome United. These four tribes were the Thialrer Tribe, the Thelrai Tribe, the Tholrae Tribe, and the Amakiir Tribe. These tribes practiced Thialren Mythology, and frequently warred with each other. In time, a military leader from the Thialrer tribe came to rule it. He established the Grand Duchy of Thialrer in 500 BC, and proceeded to conquer the other tribes. His name was Trajann I. His civilization lasted for three hundred years. This period was known as the Golden Age of Thialrer. In it, Thialren civilization made vast strides.

Principality of Thalrenius

This, however, would not last. The Grand Duchy had begun to decline. Another state had been born: the Principality of Thalrenius. The Principality originally controlled a single island in the Nostrumian Ocean. By 200 BC, they controlled half of Thialrer's former territory. In 198 BC, the Grand Duchy of Thialrer collapsed into numerous states. Thalrenius then proceeded to launch a campaign to unite Thialrer. By 173 BC, Thalrenius had reconquered all of the former Thialren territories. Thalrenius ushered in a new era of Thialrer, and resulted in vast strides of Thialren civilization.

Kingdom of Thialrer

Medieval Period
Prince Daniel the Pious oversaw the mass conversion of Thialrer to Judaism in 90 BC. His successor, Prince Ezekiel the Great, reformed and reorganized the nation. He founded the Kingdom of Thialrer, which would go on to become the longest-lasting Thialren nation. Both Prince Daniel the Pious and Prince Ezekiel the Great have been canonized as saints of the Thelranian Church.

The Kingdom of Thialrer was the first Thialren state to make contact with European powers during the Crusades. The Kings of the time viewed the Europeans and the Christians as barbaric people who had misinterpreted the word of Elohim, and opposed them. Their relations took an even worse turn following the ascent of Trajann X to the throne. Known as Trajann the Terrible, he forcefully converted Thialrer to Thialren mythology and killed all who refused to convert.

Westernization
His successor, Valerian the Kind, was kinder to the Thialren people and granted them freedom of religion. Relations with Europeans warmed, and European influence grew over Thialrer. An Anglican church was founded in Thialrer. However, Thialrer resisted European invasion at every opportunity and refused to join any European nation. This period greatly influenced Thialren culture and westernized the nation. Muslim Arabs, fleeing the collapse of the Fatimid Caliphate, migrated to Thialrer and formed the Emirate of Thalristan.

In 1589, King Trajann XI came to power. He opposed westernization and oversaw the conversion of the nation from Christianity to Thialren mythology. He believed the Europeans planned to invade Thialrer. His efforts, in his mind, were attempts to end what he saw as European rule over Thialrer. He was unpopular and was assassinated in 1612. He was succeeded by his son, Trajann XII.

Trajann XII was King during the bubonic plague epidemic in Thialrer that was known as the Terror. One of his Nine Wives, Queen Aurelia II, died of the plague. His choice as her replacement was highly controversial and made Trajann XII the first known LGBTQ+ ruler of Thialrer. He selected Arazerkaj III, Duke of Tholrae, as his spouse. Following this, Trajann's court instituted his religiously overzealous pagan son, Prince Trajann XIII, as Prince Regent.

Trajann XIII was widely known as Trajann the Dictator, and had all infected with the plague executed for being demon-possessed, as Thialren mythology viewed the plague as a demon to be executed. He executed his father in 1620 for heresy and attempted to force the populace to convert to Thialren mythology. He was unpopular among the peasants. He was succeeded by his daughter, Queen Mary I.

Queen Mary oversaw the conversion of Thialrer to Christianity and reestablished the Anglican Church in Thialrer. She reformed the system of succession to have the reigning monarch select their successor. Mary was later canonized as a saint by the Thelranian Church. She selected her son Ezra I as her successor.

Thialren Reformation and Democratization
Ezra I was widely known as Ezra the Great, and instituted the Thialren Reformation. This established the Thelranian Church. He learned Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic, read the original language versions of the Bible including the Masoretic Text, and created his own Bible translations into Ancient Thialren and English. He was influenced by his upbringing as a high church Anglican, the Protestant Reformation in Europe, and his own studies of the Bible in the writing of the Fifty Treatises of Christianity, which laid the foundation for the Thelranian Church. He was later canonized by the Thelranian Church. Ezra the Great selected his daughter Esther as his successor.

Queen Esther I, commonly known as Esther the Democrat, was known for her socially progressive policies and policy of tolerance towards minorities. She reformed the system to establish democracy and abolished serfdom. She supported the newly founded United States of America and had a long and peaceful reign. She died of natural causes in her sleep in 1821. She selected her son Vakor as her successor.

Stagnation and Fall
King Vakor I had an uneventful reign and was the first of many kings with uneventful reigns. Not many events happened, but democracy strengthened and isolationist policies began to take effect. This period of uneventful rulers ended in 1901, when King John VII ascended to the throne. John joined the alliances of pre-Great War Europe, supporting the British, and was one of few nations to survive that war, due to Thialrer's relative lack of participation.

King John VII was forced to abdicate by his son Tiberius in 1925, who threatened to kill him. Tiberius became King in 1925, and is known as Tiberius V the Terrible. Tiberius abolished the democracy of his predecessors and ground the people under the government's weight. A revolution occurred in 1926, instituting a decentralized democratic government. This government began to stagnate, however, as it found it could not control its provinces, and the government broke up into numerous states.

Empire of Thialrer

In the 1980s, the Lorddom of Thialrer, under Lord William Knight, launched a campaign to unify Thialrer under an autocratic Empire of Thialrer. He was unable to conquer Thalrenius, however. He reinstituted the monarchy and became Emperor William Knight. He ground his people under the government's weight, and dissidents were sent to forced labor camps. News corporations not operated by the government were criminalized, and the Emperor established the overseas colony of Thalrenia in previously uninhabited land. He had Thialrer join The Black Hawks and participated in the invasion of Boston. They later left the Hawks.

Modern-Day Thialrer

This all ended when Prime Minister Scorpius Kane of Thalrenia declared Thalrenia's independence from Thialrer. Emperor Knight went to Thalrenia to personally crush the revolt, leaving his son Artemis Knight, the Thialren Prime Minister, in charge of the nation. Artemis Knight declared the Empire of Thialrer to no longer be official and established the Serene Democratic Republic of Thialrer. He was the first President of Thialrer, and strengthened relations with the other nations of 1st Epitome United. He signed the Epitomic Charter and led Thialrer through several revolts by a nationalist, white supremacist terrorist group called the Black Cell.

He resigned after a short presidency, and his Vice President, Nico Carter, stepped up as President. Carter's fiancé, Tiberius Varro, was later elected Regional Chairman of 1st Epitome United. Carter saw the reestablishment of the Thialren monarchy in a limited semi-constitutional monarchy, and is the first Prime Minister of the Castellan Empire of Thialrer. He and Artemis increased Thialrer's territory and Carter annexed Thalrenius, returning it to Thialrer.

Arrow Knight has been declared Castellan Emperor of Thialrer, and his coronation is set to occur soon. The new government has instituted the new Artemis program to land people and the Moon and establish space tourism. The House of Knight plans to join the Heavenly Skies Pact, as does the Ahmed dynasty, the ruling family of the Emirate of Thalristan.
