Luna del Sol celebrates the legend of it's creation every February without fail. The month of February is full of festivals to celebrate the journey of the ancestors to Luna del Sol.
The ancestors were lost at sea when they decided to set their course by the moon, they set their course East towards where the moon seemed to rise. When they finally arrived at land they found a moon shaped island and the sun rose upon the land when they set foot on the beach. They named the land Luna del Sol and we now celebrate their month long journey to our land.
It is common to have families participate in a boat race around our island during the festivals. Our national dessert of Estrellas de la Fortuna are served everywhere on the island. Everyone participates in the festivals and at the end of the month the festival ends with a fireworks display and a sunrise presentation done by our national theater.
