Resistance Olympics Version - Scooby Doo, Where Are You!

Resistance Olympics Version - Scooby Doo, Where Are You!

Jinkies! There's a mystery afoot in the 10000 Islands and I'm asking for your help to solve it.

It's late one night, after the closing of the XKI Casino, and the last employee was preparing to close the doors for the night and head home. As she swept up crumbs and double checked the slot machines, she heard a haunting melody drift onto to the Casino floor in what should have been a totally empty Casino. Clearly, it was not. Chills traced their way up her spine as the melody lurked closer and she nervously backed away from the sound in confusion. An eerie spectre floated into view and the melody appeared to reach a fever pitch, seeming to pour out of every machine on the Casino floor around her. The poor employee turned to run, but suddenly the lights in the Casino crashed into darkness and a piercing shriek tore through the room. When the lights flickered on, all that remained of the spirit was dusty note that read: 'No more games.'

After this event, local rumors began circulating of the terrifying and mysterious ghost that's been causing havoc and confusion in the XKI Casino. No one knows where the ghost came from or what it is trying to do, but it's starting to hurt business and no one will go near the Casino! In a bid to save the business, the owner frantically placed a call for help to solve the mystery and you and all of your friends have banded together to solve it as your very own Mystery, Inc.! But, be warned, some of your fellow mystery sleuths are in cahoots with the ghost and are going to do their best to undermine your investigation. That being said, it's time to split up and look for clues!

How it works:

Resistance is a game played on our Linkforum similar to Werewolves in that it relies on social deduction but with more of an emphasis on strategy. There are two roles: Resistance member and spy. In this situation, the resistance members are our 'Mystery gang' working to solve the mystery and the spies are those working to prevent the mystery from being solved. The spies will know who is also a spy, but the resistance members will have to figure out for themselves who is working against them.

The game consists of 5 total rounds that work in two phases. The first phase of each round has the randomly selected 'Leader' of each round create a team that will go on a 'mission' aka split up to look for clues. This team must be approved by a majority of the players in a public vote. Each time the chosen team is not approved, a new Leader is selected and another team is proposed, but there can only be a max of 5 team disapprovals per round otherwise the spies automatically win the entire game.

If the team is approved, then the team will move on to the second phase to go look for clues. In this phase, the chosen team votes individually in secret by PMing me on whether their clue mission should be a success or failure. A mission success means 1 point to the Mystery gang and a mission failure means 1 point to the spies, with the first team reaching 3 points winning. Resistance members (Mystery gang) must always vote for mission success, but spies can vote either for success or failure. Obviously, there's incentive for the spies to vote for mission failure in order to win so keep a careful eye out.

If none of what I explained made any sense, just watch this endearingly dorky video explaining it: Linkvideo

The Details:

If you chose to participate, you will be randomly assigned to a role. The exact number of spies and votes needed for each phase depends on how many players we have sign up so the full explanation on that will be posted with the game thread.

For now, to make sure each Olympic team has a fair shot at points, we're limiting signups to 3 members per Olympic team. The signups are first come, first serve and you can signup for the game by simply posting that you want to play in this Linkthread.

If you are on the winning side (Mystery gang or spy), your Olympic team automatically gets 10 points and they will also be counted towards your personal points tally.

Once signups end on June 8th or we hit 3 players per team, I will post the game thread in a timely fashion and the game will begin!
