Czechoslovakia

Embassy: Prague/Consulate: Bratislava

Relations opened in 1983 as Rivierenland began to take a more positive stance towards the Eastern Bloc. The last visit to Czechoslovakia by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2014 by Vice-Premier Jere Koskinen

DDR

Embassy: Berlin

Relations opened in 1884 when the country first formed. The two were allies until 1933 when the Nazi party took over the German state. Relations were strained until 1981 when Rivierenland tried to open relations with Eastern Bloc states. Rivierenland aided unsuccessful anti-communist protests in the DDR in the late 80's, early 90's. When the DDR found out about this, they cut off relations once again. Relations have been improving since 2009. The last visit to the DDR by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1986, by Prime Minister Andrei Popescu

England

Embassy: London/Consulates: Cardiff, Birmingham

Relations opened as soon as Rivierenland gained independence (1697). The two were on good terms with each other until Rivierenland started building an empire and started posing a threat towards the UK. Relations became better around the turn of the 20th century and relations became even better during the world wars. Rivierenland and the UK became major allies during WWII and the Cold War until the UK split up in 1962. Rivierenland then opened up relations with England and England replaced the UK in the alliance. During the entire Cold War, Rivierenland allowed English military training on its soil and vice versa. Recently Rivierenland also helped England England with leaving the EU. The last visit to England by a Rivierenlander leader was in January 2020 by Prime Minister Eleanor Cohen

Estonia

Embassy: Tallinn

Relations started in 1921 and relations were neutral until the invasion of the country by the USSR in 1940. Nothing with Estonia happened until 1987, when it was still a Soviet Republic, when Rivierenland started spreading anti-communist propaganda in Estonia to spark a revolt, which happened a few years later. A soon as Estonia gained independence, Rivierenland started sending aid to the country and helped with several projects there. Rivierenland and Estonia are good allies and only England have better relations with Rivierenland than Estonia. The last visit to Estonia by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2019 by Queen Margaret II

Finland

Embassy: Helsinki/Consulate: Stockholm

Relations started in 1952 and the countries have been relatively neutral with each other. Relations have improved since 2012, mainly because of the creation of the position of Vice-Premier which saw the Fin, Jere Koskinen, become Vice-Premier. He regularly goes to Finland to mainly escape boredom. The last visit to Finland by a Rivierenlander leader is now, as Jere Koskinen is currently staying in Finland until October

France

Embassy: Paris/Consulates: Bordeaux, Lyon

Relations started in 1721. Relations with France were neutral until the invasion by Napoleon in 1800. After the liberation of Rivierenland in 1815, relations with France were strained until the interwar period. France started up relations again and Rivierenland began an alliance with France as they were both afraid of the Axis. Both countries fought against the Axis, which strengthened their relations even further. During the Cold War, relations improved more and it stayed that way, until 2015, when relations were weakened a bit after Rivierenland left the EU and NATO. The last visit to France by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2016 by Prime Minister Eleanor Cohen

Greece

Embassy: Athens

Relations started in 1988. Rivierenlanders were very interested in Greek culture and especially Greek mythology, to the point that Aphrodite became a Rivierenlander national symbol. Relations were well until 2009, when Greece entered into crisis. After several countries aided Greece with no returns, Rivierenland decided to send nothing to Greece, which prompted Greece to strain relations with Rivierenland. In 2018, the Vice-Premier decided to still send some aid to Greece, which prompted Greece to reopen relations with Rivierenland again. The last visit to Greece by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2005 by Prime Minister Amelia Jeppen

Hungary

Embassy: Budapest/Consulate: Cluj-Napoca

Relations began in 1924. Relations were neutral until the beginning of the Cold War, whe n relations were suspended. Relations were recovered in 1982 and have been good until the appointment of Viktor Orban as Prime Minister of Hungary in 2010. Viktor Orban's policies prompted Rivierenland to minimize relations with Hungary. Rivierenland is planning to suspend all relations if Viktor Orban becomes 'worse'. The last visit to Hungary by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1992 by Queen Margaret I

Ireland

Embassy: Dublin/Consulate: Belfast

Relations started in 1922, when the Irish free State was formed. Rivierenland tried to aid Ireland in gaining full independence, but then stopped when it turned out that the UK wasn't too fond of that. Years later, relations with Ireland improved again and trade between the two nations became more prevalent. The last visit to Ireland by a Rivierenlander leader was 2019 by Prime Minister Eleanor Cohen

Latvia

Embassy: Riga/Consulate: Jurmala

Relations began in 1923. They remained neutral until the USSR annexed Latvia. Relations only recovered in 1987 when just like in Estonia, Rivierenland began spreading nationalist propaganda to provoke a Latvian revolt. After Latvia's independence, Rivierenland also began sending aid to the nation. The last visit to Latvia by a Rivierenlander leader was in February 2020 by Prime Minister Eleanor Cohen

Lithuania

Embassy: Vilnius

Relations began in 1923. Relations with Lithuania were very similar to relations with Latvia and Estonia, but Rivierenland has tried less at their goal in Lithuania. Lithuania was still grateful and they're good friends. The last visit to Lithuania by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2014 by Queen Margaret II

Norway

Embassy: Oslo/Consulate: Tromso

Relations began in 1906. Relations were neutral for most of time. During the Cold War, Rivierenland had tried to convince Norway to join the European Economic Community several times to no avail. The last visit to Norway by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2007 by Queen Margaret II

Poland

Embassy: Warsaw/Consulates: Lviv, Minsk

Relations began in 1922. Rivierenland aided Poland against the USSR, although very minimally. Relations strained during the Cold War and reopened in 1984. Relations were neutral and dipped a little bit after Rivierenlander reforms making it harder for economic migrants to enter Rivierenland. Relations dipped farther after the rise of PIS. The last visit to Poland by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1998 by Prime Minister Amelia Jeppen

Portugal

Embassy: Lisbon/Consulate: Horta

Relations began in 1697. Relations were neutral until the creation of the Estado Novo. Rivierenland was hesitant to continue relations with Portugal, but during WWII the relations improved. Rivierenland liked Portugal a lot and frequently aided the country, but relations dipped after the socialists took over power in Portugal. Relations stayed bad until 1980, when Rivierenland tried to reopen relations. Relations have stayed good after that. The last visit to Portugal by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2018 by Queen Margaret II

Russia

Embassy: Moscow/Consulate: St. Petersburg

Relations began 1697. Relations were neutral throughout most of time until 1922, when the USSR was founded. They stayed bad until halfway WII. Relations were good until the start of the Cold War. Relations were at an all-time low in the 60's and 70's. Relations improved in the late 80's and became neutral after the foundation of the Russian Federation. Relations dipped after the Russian annexation of Crimea and Rivierenland forced Russia to get rid of Crimea. Instead of giving Crimea back to the Ukraine, they instead gave Crimea independence. The last visit to Russia by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1988 by Prime Minister Andrei Popescu

Scotland

Embassy: Edinburgh

Relations began in 1962. After Scotland became independent, Rivierenland tried to retain an alliance with the entire former UK, but Scotland wasn't as interested as England. Ever since, relations have been neutral. The last visit to Scotland by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1999 by Queen Margaret II

Slovenia

Embassy: Ljubljana

Relations began in 1991. Relations stayed neutral throughout time. The last visit to Slovenia by a Rivierenlander leader was in 1992 by Queen Margaret I

Spain

Embassy: Madrid/Consulate: Bilbao

Relations began in 1697. Relations stayed neutral until the Spanish Civil War when Rivierenland cut ties after Franco took over. Relations only improved after Franco's death and relations became neutral again. The last visit to Spain by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2003 by Prime Minister Amelia Jeppen

Ukraine

Embassy: Kyiv

Relations began in 1991. Rivierenland aided Ukraine in recovering from being part of the USSR. Relations were good and only improved after 2014, when Rivierenland openly condemned Russia for both annexing Crimea and shooting down MH17. Rivierenland aided Ukraine against Russia (which also was a reason why Rivierenland left the EU as the EU didn't want to help the Ukraine). The last visit to Ukraine by a Rivierenlander leader was in 2014 by Prime Minister Eleanor Cohen
