Caer Sidi Taoiseach Elected; Cabinet Appointed
by Ultimate Q

Loller ran a Godfather themed campaign

In the most recent Taoiseach election of Caer Sidi (which concluded on July 1st, 2020), Sebero sree (known as Loller Corleone), former Tanaiste, won a decisive victory (though the exact numbers are unavailable due to recent events regarding the forums) over Itchkerie and Southern free corsica. His platform consisted of increasing recruitment planning, increasing integration efforts, increasing the delegate’s endorsement level, and improve our ambassadors’ abilities to meet Caer Sidi’s FA goals.

The original cabinet, consisting of Ultimate Q (as Minister of Communications and Foreign Affairs), Itchkerie (as Tanaiste), and Moldona (as Minister of Cultural Affairs). Currently, Plang man tiden and Kresh Nagar have overtaken as Cultural Affairs Ministers, and the Tanaiste position is unfilled.

When asked for comment on his victory, Loller stated that, “I was really happy that I won. Ever since I came back to NationStates, Caer Sidi has been my home in this game and I absolutely adore the community and love how accepting and kind each and every person in this region has been to me ever since. I was happy that I could use my new role to contribute even further to this community that I love and is proud to be a part of.”

A new addition to the Interior Council
by Sebero sree

Flag of Kernox

J Kingsmill (Kernox) has been appointed to the Interior Council, the out of character administration team of the region, by the Monarchy. Interior Council works with the Monarchy on the day to day operations of our offsite forum and Discord.

J has been an active member of Caer Sidi since the end of last year and was also the Taoiseach in the previous term. When asked by CSBS about what he felt when he was first approached for the job, J said that he was “quite surprised” because he had “never even though [that] he would be asked.”

Queen Aynia Moreaux, in her announcement regarding the appointment, said that J “brings a new perspective and fresh ideas to the team.” She also added that “it's important to have a mix of more experienced and more fresh faced and enthusiastic members to the administration team to bring balance” and that she believes that “the current administration team achieves that, especially with the addition of J.”

When this reporter asked the newest member of the Administration team about how his experience so far has been in his new role, J candidly replied that, “So far, I've had a good time being on the admin team. It was a bit difficult at first as I was getting to know the job, but now I feel like I've gotten my place and have fit into this new role that has been given to me.”

Gaming has become even more fun in Caer Sidi!
by Sebero sree

Caer Sidi has a really strong gaming culture. Led by Head Game Master Kari (Potchen) and, in her absence, Game Master Stefan (Moldona), the gamers of the community come together to play various multiplayer games every week.

In a bid to make it accessible for more people a series of changes were implemented by the Head Game Master to the weekly gaming schedule and the kind of games that are played, in the beginning of July. A poll consisting of more than 30 Steam and Epic games that can be played was conducted to know which games are owned by the most number of citizens.

Shortly following discussions with the community, Kari announced a new gaming schedule for the region consisting of midweek games and weekend games.

“At present the intention is to have midweek games on Wednesdays &/or Thursdays that would consist, mostly, of more casual games that would require a smaller time commitment. Examples of these type of games would be Golf With Your Friends, Tabletop Simulator, Left for Dead 2, SCP: Secret Laboratory, Verdun, Tannenberg, Unturned and RTS games that have shorter battles, such as (older) Total War games or Star Wars Empire at War: Gold Edition.” said Kari, in her announcement.

Regarding weekend games, it was announced that they would consist of games which requires more time such as 4X games, more complex battle games such as ARMA 3, Sea of Thieves and real time strategy games such as Age of Empires, Company of Heroes, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Homeworld, Wargame, etc along with the midweek games.

With more free and casual games being played, game weeks have become more fun and accessible for those like this reporter, who don’t own many games. Thanks to our wonderful Game Masters, gaming has become even more fun in Caer Sidi!

Weekend Games with Europeia
by Ultimate Q

Near the very beginning of this term, Europeia invited Caer Sidi to a week-long event filled with games and other festivities. The event, which started on Monday, July 6th, and lasted until the following Sunday, was one of multiple events in which Europeia invited their embassy regions to its discord to partake in their weekend games.

Included in the festivities was Secret Hitler (a social deduction game), a radio show (featuring Aynia Moreaux, Ultimate Q, TiroDayn, Kuramia, Common-Sense Politics, and The Nation of the People of the Nation), and a rather impromptu game of Krunker.io (a web based shooting game). That of course is excluding the several days of socializing that took place amongst both Caer Sidi and Europeia members.

A contest of flags!
by Ultimate Q

The winning flag

In mid to late July, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs held a flag making competition on the regional discord of Caer Sidi. The winner of the competition was rewarded with eternal bragging rights, and a chance to have their flag be the regional flag for two days. A total of 8 flags were submitted by 6 contestants.

In total 23 citizens voted, who could vote for any of their two favourite flags from the submitted ones. Loller Corleone (Sebero sree) won the competition after garnering a total of 14 votes for his flag while C40H56 (Vicordium) came in close second with 13 votes.

Since it came in first, the flag designed by Loller was made the regional flag for two days soon after the results were announced on 23rd July.

Fighting off aliens with Lazarus!
by Meko ame

The space ship

Caer Sidi recently organized a week long roleplay event with Lazarus. The event which started on 26th July was originally supposed to go on till 1st August but was extended till 5th later. The event was quite literally a ‘wild ride’ for everyone involved.

Created and planned by Stefan (Moldona), the Oracle of Caer Sidi, and titled as ‘STARCOM’, the roleplay’s premise followed the events surrounding a space station on the edge of civilization, which went dark suddenly.

A new crew is sent to investigate and get it up and running again, but not everything is what it seems. Secrets, plots, and aliens all get involved as things start going wrong on the station. A virus of some kind is infecting and taking over the crew, one by one, and it's up to the remaining few to make it until rescue arrives.

As fights break out across the station, pitting infected versus survivors hope finally arrives! A shuttle full of STARCOM soldiers boards the station at the end of the 9 days long mayhem and arrests everyone, making short work of any remaining resistance. Finally, the surviving crew can draw a sigh of relief, as they are led off to quarantine and the station is once more under STARCOM control.

However, not everything is what it seems, and the calm is rudely interrupted three weeks into quarantine by a grenade, smuggled in by an infected crew member. Smoke and debris is sent scattering, smoke thickening like the plot. What might the future hold in store? Find out next time, in STARCOM!

A new Orator elected!
by Sebero sree

With Kari (Potchen) stepping down from her position as the Orator of the Oireachtas, Caer Sidi’s legislature, an election to select the new Orator was triggered.

The election was announced and the standing period of 72 hours was started on 19th July, the same day that Kari informed her decision to resign. Two citizens, Vijay (Portswood) and Cara (Dellmere), stood up as candidates by nominating themselves.

Vijay’s campaign focused on giving constitutional status to House Baile, the in character roleplay legislative body of the Oireachtas whereas Cara’s campaign was focused on their experience in handling similar responsibilities in other regions.

The recently announced forum migration was brought up by both campaigns and both candidates promised to work with the Interior Council to ensure a smooth transition.

The voting period started on 26th July and ended on 28th. Cara was the winning candidate receiving 63.64% of the votes being in her favour.

It looks like the new Orator will have a busy time ahead with three new bills already proposed in House Roayl, the legislative body which covers legislations related to regional structure, workings and treaties.

Updates from The Autumnal Court
by Sebero sree

With a bunch of new updaters in its roster, The Autumnal Court, Caer Sidi’s independent small ops military, has been getting involved in a bit more action in the last two months.

In June, TAC decided to join our favourite penguin friend and others at Red Sun Army for a chaotic yet fun tag raid. The update was being weird that Major and the entire raid was carried out in #general-chat of RSA's military server but we still managed to hit 14 regions.

In July, Loller Corleone (Sebero sree) decided to test out his newly acquired triggering skills and carried out a successful raid, hitting a total of 15 regions. Thanks to RSA for showing up for this raid. With this op, Loller Corleone, who was till then a Fennid, was promoted to the officer rank of Ollamh.

TAC kicked off August by joining The Black Hawks and friends for an occupation of South Pacific. In the same update we also joined in on a shotgun raid with TBH themselves to add on to the fun! Vara (Ultimate Q) was given the much deserved promotion to the rank of Bóaire after this raid.

Satire: An infectious disease spreads across Caer Sidi!
by Sebero sree

Some of the infected and Cpt. Carrot

In the beginning of July, reports started coming in off a new infectious disease that gradually turns those who catches it in to a carrot. Carrotanthropomorphism (also popularly known as Carrot Plague), seemed to be highly contagious with numerous citizens on our Discord being infected by it.

Named after the source of the virus, Regent Cpt. Carrot (TiroDayn), there isn’t an exact cure known for the Carrot Plague, despite most of the infected now being cured on their own. The symptoms of the disease includes blurry vision, outer layer of the skin being replaced by carrot skin, feet turning into roots, and in some extreme cases being completely stationary and immobile.

Phantasus, one of those who were infected said this about his symptoms in an exclusive interview with CSBS, “I had just woken up, I was walking through the Winter Grove, something was strange, my vision was clouded by orange, and I saw my friends warped into orange organic masses. I got
paranoid and tried to leave but my feet had taken root, I had become carrot, my friends had become carrot, all will become carrot.” Phantasus also shared his concerns about his flesh being not as tasty as before as he had literally become a vegetable.

A few brave citizens like Kari (Potchen), who was also one of the first citizens to be cured of the disease, told CSBS without any hesitation that they blame Cpt. Carrot for the spread of this dangerous disease. Interestingly some of those who were infected such as Jazzy (Meko ame), Tenurium (Kresh Nagar) and Phantasus not only refused to blame the Regent but actually defended him by claiming that those who are blaming Cpt. Carrot are deliberately spreading false rumours and that it is all a ‘political move’.

Latest research suggests that in the later stages of the disease, it seems to be able to take over the brain functions of the infected. This theory is corroborated by the chants that the infected seemed to keep repeating while they were still under the clutches of the disease such as “Carrot is love, Carrot is life!” While this reporter was interviewing Jazzy, they even suggested to me to embrace the disease, raising questions as to whether certain sections of the infected were deliberately spreading the disease with some ulterior motive. It is to be also noted that in our interview with Tenurium, they recommended quarantining the infected from the rest of the population even though they are a vocal supporter of the ‘Carrot Overcarrot.’

This reporter asked Cpt. Carrot about what he felt about being the cause of a health emergency. “I tried to stop it and I tried to save them, but the fools [just] laughed! They laughed harder as they morphed into horrific carrotaforms,” said the Regent in his response.

At the time of writing this article, most of the infected have been thankfully cured of the disease, except Queen Aynia Moreaux, the Monarch of Caer Sidi whose husband is Cpt. Carrot.

Punday Puns!
by CSBS Staff

Here are the top puns shared by the residents of Caer Sidi's Regional Message Board on our weekly Pundays! As Pundays have now been discontinued by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs as to make way for the #punposting channel in our Discord, this will probably the last Punday Puns section of CSBS. Have pun reading!

Citizens of the Month!
by Taoiseach Sebero sree

While usually only one citizen is featured per CSBS issue as the Citzen of the Month, this time we had no choice but to break that tradition and feature two.

Vara (Ultimate Q) has been an active and highly contributing citizen of the region since last term. From helping out the Delegate in their WA campaigns in last term to becoming the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications this term, Vara has become an integral part of the Caer Sidi community. He is also an active member of The Autumnal Court, where he was recently promoted to the rank of Bóaire. As the Communications Minister, he was also directly responsible for this issue of CSBS (except this part of course, as it was a kept as a secret from him till the last moment). Vara is a true asset to Caer Sidi and we are really thankful for everything he has done and is doing for the region.

Tenurium (Kresh Nagar), despite being a relative newcomer to the region, has quickly become one of the most active members of Caer Sidi. Considering that he was already well known by the community prior to him becoming a citizen, he was appointed as the Co-Minister of Cultural Affairs soon after joining, owing to his great enthusiasm and energy. He has done everything in his power to prove this decision right. From helping to run the weekly featured nations poll in the RMB and hosting the flag contest to being one of the most regular faces in our game nights, Tenurium’s assimilation in Caer Sidi’s community has been spectacular and we are extremely delighted to call him one of us.
