The Foundation Period: Abolishment of the Death Penalty

The Tribunal of the Soldiers and Workers Will, so prevalent during the violent stage of the revolution, is hereby barred from enacting the death penalty.

It’s usage of utilising the death penalty via a shot to the back of the head is acknowledged to have been necessary in our time of civil war. But having cleansed our nation of the worst excesses of the oppresers it has come time for the anger of the people to give way to the mercy of the new order.

This does not mean the people are weak, therefore the Red Terror shall continue, but as we are not Anarchists like our neighbors it shall be controlled, pointed and purposeful. The labor camps shall not be closed nor shall those executed be rehabilitated.

The Supreme Soviet of the Worker and Soldiers takes this time to officially deny any knowledge of the validity of the foreign accusations of “mass graves” or “extrajudicial executions”. We do not deny our sadness of the expediency of the period of executions. Nor do we deny the possibility of unmarked mass graves in extreme cases. However the time of executions had faded away alongside the civil war.

The voice of the people is the will of the Soviets, and that voice states “rehabilitation not revenge!” Let it be as they have willed it
