European Union – Commission XXVII

The twenty-seventh LinkEuropean Commission was elected on the 19th of September 2020. Under the Constitution of the European Union, each Commissioner is elected separately. The Premier Commissioner and Internal Affairs Commissioner each serve four-month terms, while the Foreign Affairs Commissioner serves an eight-month term. Premier Commissioner – Angela Merkel, Fremet

Angela Merkel was born in 1955 in a fishing village in the suburbs of Nordhavn. Merkel began studying at the Universitet i Trondheim in 1973, until she earned a PhD in Theoretical Mathematics there in 1981. Merkel went on to work at the National Particle Physics Laboratory in Rhodenheim. Merkel entered into politics at the dissolution of the Third Republic with her appointment as Deputy Minister of Science and Research in 1988. Merkel would serve as Minister of Science and Research from 1992 to 1996, when she ran on the party list for the Liberal Democrats.

Merkel would later win the leadership of the Liberal Democrats in 2000, where she would lead the party to one of its most significant gains in its history. She would serve as Statsminister from 2000 to 2012, when her second coalition dissolved. Merkel made a return to the Statsministership in 2016 with a new coalition, but retired in 2017 due to personal matters. Since her retirement from the Statsministership, Merkel has traveled around Europe, promoting Fremet and participating in humanitarian efforts. Merkel was elected as Premier Commissioner of the European Union in September of 2020.

Internal Affairs Commissioner – Jean Claude Juncker, Spain In The South

Jean Claude Juncker was born in Paris, to a father who was a doctor and a mother who was a university professor. Juncker studied at the University Carlos III de Madrid, where he completed a dual BA in law and political science. Juncker then later completed three MA degrees in european politics, diplomacy and economics.

Juncker served as the Spanish Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, as well as the Minister of the European Union. Juncker authored many of the projects and treaties that the Spanish Government has signed with other European Union member states. Juncker was elected as Commissioner of Internal Affairs in May 2020, and was re-elected to a second term in September of 2020.

Foreign Affairs Commissioner – Antoni Reynels, Inquista

Antoni Reynels received a BA in International Relations from the University of the Mediterranean in 2002. In 2004, Reynels completed an MA in International Political Economy from Saint Pierre University in Icholasen. From 2004 to 2009, Reynels worked as a research analyst for the European Centre for Progress in Saint Dominico, which was a pro-European and pro-free trade think tank that advocated for greater economic integration between Inquista and the rest of Europe.

In 2009, Reynels was made Consul General of the Inquistan Consulate in Verington, Duxburian Union. In 2013, Reynels was made High Commissioner of Inquista to Icholasen. Reynels was elected as Commissioner of Foreign Affairs in May 2020.
