Ergyng's Space Program Aborted? - The Ergyng Information Network

25 September 2020

In a joint statement today, Ergyng's Minister of Finance, Minister of Science, and the EAB announced they would be grounding much of Ergyng's Space Program, in order to focus resources and research into other areas for the immediate future.

"We absolutely are not scrapping our space program, don't worry. We'll still be running all active missions, and launching any satellites that have been completed or are already in production. We simply won't be initiating any new missions unless they are critical." the Minister of Science, Yvonne Davis, assured us.

John Cutter, the Minister of Finance, stated that Ergyng's space program will see a 30% cut of their budget, and that most of this will be instead used to fund research and development in Ergyng's energy sector.

When asked about this Mr Cutter said "The funds will be used to improve and develop Ergyng's existing energy infrastructure in order to help hasten Ergyng's goal of reaching 95% clean energy within the next five years. Naturally this means a sizeable portion of the funds will go to the decomissioning of fossil fuel plants and the construction of new nuclear and renewble energy sources. However, a not insignificant portion of the funds will be going towards R&D of Thorium energy plants in an effort to make best use of Ergyng's natural resources."

The Ministers were not able to comment on when Ergyng's space program would be fully reactivated, they were just able to assure us that this was definitely only a temporary measure, and that Ergyng's scientific community need not worry.
