It is the largest of the KVS' branches, though most of its personnel is made up of biosynth mind-slaves rather than enlisted citizens, and receives by far the greatest amount of student conscripts into its ranks. Historically, it has been the primary means by which Khoronzon has expanded and secured its own borders; currently serving a largely defensive role against military incursions from the Trans-Atlantic Union, the Ecumene Corporate State, and assorted PMCs, it is nonetheless being considerably restructured under the oversight of Emperor Evehxhas into a much more offensively-oriented force in accordance with his new ambitions for the Supremacy's place in the world.[/color][/font]

These are distinct from organisational subdivisions within the force, as most classifications are capable of serving in a variety of specific roles, and are instead grouped by broad similarities in basic equipment and operational methodology. Many of these are additionally fielded by the KVS Naval Force as marines - with the overall concept of "infantry" falling mainly under the purview of the Terrestrial Force, they are thus listed here and not on the Naval Force page in spite of their naval presence. It is worth noting that newly enlisted citizen personnel, particularly conscripted students, go through an initial period in which they fall under no particular category and instead serve as unspecialised light infantry - however, this period typically only lasts for a short time, with recruits either being promoted to Pack Leaders, entering Varkolak training, or returning to civilian life, and, especially in the case of students, they see direct combat considerably less frequently than fully-fledged soldiers who do fall into one of the listed categories.

[font=lucida sans unicode][color=#d4d4d4]The [i]Phalangium[/i]-type biosynth, nicknamed the [i]“Mannequin”[/i] by soldiers, is the backbone of the KV3S, largely replacing Khoronzonite citizen personnel in unspecialised infantry roles and serving as the foundation of the Pack, the KV3S' most basic infantry unit. Existing solely as an armed slave and extension of its Pack Leader, it has very little individual autonomy of its own, instead possessing a basic, non-sapient consciousness puppeteered via noetic linkage to its master while still retaining just enough capacity for problem-solving and decision-making to facilitate and streamline the Alpha's simultaneous oversight of the entire Pack, including their own self. Thus, each Pack is, in essence, a small hive mind, each Phalangium body serving as a node through which the Alpha senses and acts.

The nature of the Phalangium as a single-minded war machine is reflected in the design of its physiology, sporting a considerable arsenal as part of its very being. Its exterior is enveloped in a lightweight form of [i]Anthozoa[/i] regenerative plating, commonly found on Khoronzonite infantry and vehicular armour and granting it adaptive visual camouflage on par with octopuses and cuttlefish, while its interior boasts additional self-healing capabilities and numerous redundancies for vital organs. Its head, the most heavily armoured region of its body, contains an array of sensory organs well beyond that of a human, with infrared-sensing facial pits, low-light vision, and advanced auditory and olfactory systems designed to track targets down from long distances. By default, its armament consists of an in-built organic arm cannon capable of firing a variety of mainly anti-infantry biological projectiles, though many Phalangia have external firearms grafted into their bodies in its stead for longer engagement ranges, more conventional firepower, and greater diversity in combative roles.[/color][/font]

Likewise, the very same can be said for the weaponry it carries on its massive, reinforced frame, often repurposed from vehicular mounts and unusable by any other infantry personnel. Based on the same operational principle as its more lightweight cousin, it is found in Packs geared towards breaking through enemy defences and concentrated formations, each one boasting survivability and firepower comparable to a light AFV. [font=lucida sans unicode][color=#d4d4d4]At the centre of every pack of Phalangia or Troguli is the Pack Leader, also known as the Alpha - a Khoronzonite infantry officer whose mind is directly linked to the pack-slaves under their command, who sees, hears, and feels through their bodies as well as their own and who drives them to act with the same natural ease as moving a limb. Pack Leaders are extensively trained in communicative forms of noopraxis, and their aptitude with it corresponds to their status - for an Alpha, greater skill as a noopract translates to a larger, more efficiently coordinated pack, as well as greater synchronisation through more streamlined communication with friendly forces. However, the role of an Alpha goes well beyond puppeteering and synergism - as the core of Khoronzon's primary light infantry unit, they are highly manoeuvrable and skilled combatants in their own right, significantly more formidable by themselves than any individual Phalangium, and in some cases even Trogulus, under their thumb.[/color][/font]

Enter the Varkolak - an infantry classification within the KV3S tailored towards specialised commando-esque roles including reconnaissance, airborne deep strikes, sabotage, and assassination. While Varkolaks are generally less proficient in noopraxis than Pack Leaders, as their duties require it to a considerably lesser degree, the absence of pack-slaves necessitating meticulous control allows them to use what capabilities they have in a much freer manner, leaving room for them to serve as formidable offensive noopracts in addition to their more conventional combative prowess.[/color][/font]

[font=lucida sans unicode][color=#d4d4d4]The AVM-6 (General-Purpose Combat Vehicle 6), designated the [i]Arthropleura[/i], is the current main battle tank of the KV3S. Its abnormally high speed owes in part to its advanced nanocomposite hull granting it respectable protection at a significantly reduced weight, and in part to further alleviations to the aforementioned plating being afforded in favour of a supplementary layer of regenerative biological armour on top of the nanocomposite, itself capable of providing adaptive chromatophore-based camouflage and non-explosive reactive protection in addition to standard armour. As such, it is capable of exceptionally rapid deployment over major distances and boasts manoeuvrability unmatched by any contemporary MBT. Its design is based primarily around large-scale, prolonged offensive warfare, as it is expected to operate with a much greater degree of independence from established friendly transport networks than any previous Khoronzonite tank, using its own speed and sustainability to push into enemy territory with minimal reliance on rail and air transit.

Featuring a 105mm coilgun as its primary armament, its relatively low calibre is compensated for by its immense range and muzzle velocity, allowing for considerably greater impact energy from distances often out of reach for other tanks. Complementing its main gun are two additional weapon types intended for engaging softer targets ill-suited for the main cannon: a coaxial and roof-mounted machine gun, and a pair of organic "missile batteries" fitted with capsules containing volatile biological munitions. The most common examples of biological "warheads" are neurotoxic aerosol grenades and self-replicating flesh-eating zooid swarms, both of which excel in decimating infantry formations. Besides its offensive armaments, it features a shotgun-esque active protection system assisted by its advanced onboard computational array, the latter of which additionally bears the capacity to emit disruptive signalling as a soft-kill countermeasure against guided munitions.

The Arthropleura is operated by a two-man crew consisting of a driver and gunner, assisted by the tank's onboard AI suite. Although the position of commander, conspicuously absent from its crew composition, is by no means replaceable by the AI alone, it is nonetheless filled through a unique interaction between said AI and the two crew members, both of whom are assumed to be lysophylaxic. Serving as a receptor for noetic output from the driver, the gunner, and external command nodes, it uses their intersection within it to construct a "ghost commander", an emergent pseudo-sapient consciousness that feeds into and draws from the consciousnesses of the crew and the greater chain of command within the overarching strategic front using the tank's AI as a fulcrum, directing their actions while near-seamlessly synchronising its efforts with all nearby friendly forces. The tank's self-repairing capabilities, in large part thanks to its [i]Anthozoa[/i] biosynth integrated framework, compensate for the inherent maintenance difficulties incurred by the reduced crew size and render it, on average, considerably easier to maintain and repair than most of its contemporaries.[/color][/font]

[font=lucida sans unicode][color=#d4d4d4]The PVM-4 (Infantry Combat Vehicle 4) is the KV3S' current IFV model, which comes in two separate variations - the lightweight PVM-4L, also known as the [i]Eophrynus[/i], and the heavy-duty PVM-4T, dubbed the [i]Kreischeria[/i]. Both variants feature above-average mobility among contemporaries of their respective vehicle types, while retaining considerable protection thanks to their advanced armour and regenerative capabilities. In addition, being recently designed under the Evehxhas administration's revised doctrine, they are operated by the same two-man crew composition with a "ghost commander" as the Arthropleura MBT, further facilitating coordination and synergism with their corresponding infantry regiments.

The Eophrynus, typically deployed alongside light infantry in lower-intensity engagements, is relatively lightly armoured and highly mobile, relying mainly on its agility and APS to defend against anti-armour threats. Its weaponry is almost entirely geared towards fighting infantry, with an intermediate-calibre rotary cannon as its primary weapon complemented by a roof-mounted machine gun and biological missile battery – however, the autocannon does possess sufficient firepower to engage relatively lightly-armoured vehicles, and can be used as such in the absence of readily available anti-vehicular support.

The Kreischeria, being considerably heftier than its counterpart and deployed in more active and dangerous combat zones, bears enhanced armour protection allowing it to last through situations well beyond the Eophrynus' survivability with relative ease. Similarly to the Eophrynus, its weaponry is mainly designed to engage infantry; however, alongside the autocannon, machine gun, and missile module, it is additionally fitted with a roof-mounted grenade launcher, granting it notably enhanced anti-armour capabilities.[/color][/font]

Designed primarily for speed and ease of production, it forgoes the need for crew space by having its functions operated entirely by a mixture of automation and remote control from a command platform, which is usually linked with a significant number of other Lissomartus drones operating in conjunction.

Equipped with an 85mm high-velocity coilgun as its primary weapon, it possesses impressive firing range and packs a significant punch against armoured targets, particularly when taking into account the large numbers in which it is often deployed. As secondary armament, it features a coaxial machine gun and a biological missile battery, the latter of which is typically loaded with a lesser concentration of anti-infantry missiles in favour of capsules of extremely viscous “tar”, serving to mire enemy formations, especially vehicles, in thick sludge.[/color][/font]
