A campaign is underway that calls on Prime Minister-Elect Glen Rhodes to declassify all files related to Area 87, a Special Forces installation that is long rumoured to contain extrapacifican technology and specimens.

Mr Rhodes, a former special agent at the Regional Bureau of Investigation (RBI), had an extended assignment at the Y-Files Division, tasked with investigating cases of an unexplained nature. In this capacity Mr Rhodes was involved in several cases related to Area 87 and what many consider to be a conspiracy at the highest levels of government to conceal the existence of extrapacifican intelligent life. Recently declassified files confirm that Mr Rhodes attempted several times to access Area 87 and was once arrested for breaching into a sensitive building within the installation, though he was subsequently released.

There is now an online petition called #OpenArea87 that calls on the Prime Minister-Elect to declassify all files on Area 87 and tell the public the truth about extrapacifican life. The petition had obtained 53,000 signatures at the time of publication. This paper asked the Special Forces for comment on Area 87, but only received a standard response that "the Special Forces cannot confirm nor deny the existence of classified facilities".
