DÖTHMARISM:

Döthmarism, also commonly referred to as its Representational Entity for the religion, the Church of Saba, is a Pantheist religion that stems from the belief in an all accompanying energy that comprises everything; both human and nonhuman. Its adherents, known as Döthmarists, believe that everything from the stars in the sky, the rocks in the ground, the blood in a body and the bark on trees contain a spiritual and harnessable energy that connects to the Eternal Realm, known simply as Saba. The religion was founded some time during the early -IY100s, over 1500 years ago with a series of Holy Books called the Articles of Divinity. The Five books (Articles of Divinity), tell the tale of the foundation of Strangereal to how to draw energy from the Eternal Realm. It is the de-facto national religion of the Imperial Realm, as it is the only nation that has a Döthmarist Population, with 73% of the population identifying as Döthmarist; decreasing in recent years. The existence of the Religion is enshrined into Gothgraff and Lilium in its Policies and Ideology.

However Döthmarism is not just one religion but split between multiple-recognized sects and an array of fringe sects with focus on separate parts of the Articles of Divinity or a way of Thought. Orthodox Döthmarism, Eastern Döthmarism, and Aethereal Döthmarism make up the set of beliefs that people associate with Döthmarism, while Black Döthmarism remains a highly scrutinized sect within the country, interacting with the darker side of the Eternal Realm and fringe groups remaining largely out of the devout public's eye.

CORE BELIEFS

The Core Beliefs of Döthmarism are broad and vague, open for Interpretation by the person and/or the sect, allowing for different ideas and sentiments about the religion to fluster over thousands of years of practicing.

  • Everything in the Universe holds harnessable/controllable energy from the Eternal Realm of Saba, living and non-living, through all forms of matter.

ARTICLES OF DIVINITY

The Articles of Divinity are a series of foundational Holy Books for the Döthmarist religion. It is comprised of 5 books, each with their own distinct stories, prayers, principles, and lessons; and introduce many of the Arcane Abilities that coincide with the religion. The books going from first to last of faith are, The Divine Creation, The Divine Order, The Divine Mind, The Divine Freedom, the Divine Peace.

The Divine Creation details the planetary founding of Strangereal and the universe around it in the material world; from animals, to foreign stars, buildings, rock, and air. The book is all about the fact that everything created, has always existed just without organization and order.

The Divine Order is about the creation of order, how everything that ever existed was commanded to be so by invisible forces. Gases in space falling together to create harsher elements, that corelated with the formation of planets, molecular life, and humanity. The first instance of the generally-perceived-as 'Arcane Powers' resides in the book as it introduces the ability to organize matter at a whim: with enough practice.

The Divine Mind has everything to-do with thought, and how the greatest trait of humanity is their intelligence. It lays out many of the foundational thoughts behind the Döthmarist Religion and principles behind Arcane Abilities and Powers; that they are equally born from the mind as they are the heart.

The Divine Freedom relates too embracing the Döthmarist Religion fully and finding freedom through the order that perseveres over all. That without order, true freedom can not coexist and the world would descend into anarchy.

The Divine Peace is all about the Döthmarist afterlife, in the Realm of Saba that acts as a mirror world too ours; and acts as the immaterial world where things are conjured from. The Divine Peace encourages the embrace of death and acceptance that time progresses.
