It's a plane! It's a bird! It's a... rat?

A hard truth we must come to terms with, is that no pharaoh can rule forever. However while they reign, they can procure long lasting achievements that leave impressions on generations to come. With news of our beloved Pharaoh Skies abdicating the pharaohship, it is important to reflect on the many accomplishments and successes that came with having had Skies sit on the Osiran throne. From unprecedented regional stability, ardent and dedicated government departments, to a thriving and active citizenry; Skies was an excellent pharaoh to say the absolute least. In fact, Skies's pharaohship was so stable and prosperous they will forever be remembered for breaking the record previously held by our matriarch, Pharaoh Altino, for being the longest-sitting-pharaoh in our history; an achievement that immortalized Skies as one of our greatest pharaohs that could not have been achieved without a firm ruling hand. None-the-less, the pinnacle of each pharaoh's reign and ultimately the thing they are most remembered for is who inherits the throne after them. Skies is no exception to this and will forever be remembered for who they chose as heiress apparent.

April 27th 2022, Pharaoh Skies officially announced their intentions on appointing Hazel has the heiress apparent to the throne of Osiris. To no one's surprise, community members one after the other applauded Skies's royal decision with many stating that Hazel being chosen as heiress apparent was an obvious choice. And of course it so blatantly was. Osiris at her core, is a meritocracy, where those who put in the work are moved into positions of influence so that she [Osiris] can benefit from their dedication and loyalty. To quote former Pharaoh Altino, founder of our meritocratic morals "If you ask why a meritocratic leader is in their position, the answer is basically "what do you mean? Like, duh." Their worth should be obvious and evidential." On May 9th 2022, a confirmation vote concluded in the Temple of Thoth ( the dedicated temple of the Council of Scribes ) which officially declared Hazel as the next Heiress Apparent. In the coming days, Hazel will be coronated as Pharaoh of Osiris.

It should be noted that Hazel's career in Osiris before ascending the throne speaks volumes regarding her qualifications for the pharaohship. She has served in various offices of public service within our region over the years, with a driving determination to excel in each. Respectable offices and titles such as Priestess, Guardian, Sub-Vizier of Gameside Affairs, Chief Vizier, and of course Heiress Apparent helps to define the legitimacy of the 24th Pharaoh. Each previous office that Hazel has held will have instilled a great knowledge for her, that will be used in assisting her reign over our region. Useful qualities like a rational temperament, mastery in interregional politics, and a cardinal understanding of inner regional stability are all crucial to effectively lead a successful pharaohship; all of which Hazel has a firm grip of. To this measure, anyone who has had the pleasure of interacting with Hazel will know that she possesses a vigorous work ethic that our region has thus far benefited from, greatly.

While we have come accustomed to the style of rule from that of Pharaoh Skies, we are all very excited for the future of Osiris and this transfer of leadership. Each pharaoh has indulged themselves the liberty to theme their reign and stylize their form of rule as they so please. So what can we expect from Hazel when she assumes the throne? Theme wise, this is a simple enough question to answer: rats, sci-fi programming aesthetics, and an emphasis on mythology. While the possibility of "rat" being an obvious choice, sci-fi programming aesthetics might not be. Though it shouldn't come off as a surprise to no-one but, Hazel is indeed one smart cookie! So either programming aesthetics or something as equally as intelligent. Regarding mythology, Hazel has had made mention on multiple accounts that Osiris [the region] famously has a long history of using imagery of anything other than Osiris [the deity]. Together, these could be very strong clues as to what we can expect to see theme wise. As for style of rule? That too seems like a obvious one for me: hard work. Of course, no one expects folks to dedicate whole twelve hour segments of their day to NS. But for those in government, with the time they can afford without neglecting their physical and mental healths; they are always to be held at a higher standard. I fully expect to see Pharaoh Hazel run a tight ship, like the Pharaohs of great who ruled before her.

Skies as our pharaoh will be greatly missed. Though thankfully, we can find solace in the fact that Skies will still be around in our community - still contributing to our culture and way of life as they always have. In looking back at all of Skies's accomplishments, I remind you that we as a region can channel all that positive energy into this transfer of power because when our Pharaoh succeeds, we succeed. Imagine all the things Hazel will achieve and all the benefits our region will reap in having her as pharaoh. It's a good time to be an Osiran.

The age of rat is upon us.
Wishing you all the luck in the world, Hazel.
