What you need to know about NationStates

1. The NationStates world is divided into regions. Each nation must belong to a region. There are a few game-created regions (GCRs), but most of the world consists of user-created regions (UCRs) like the Social Liberal Union.
2. One of the most important activities early on is answering issues, which determine your nation's policies, statistics, and rankings. You get new issues periodically once you decide them. If you don't mind spoilers, you can see the possible outcomes of all issues Linkhere. Your population will grow everyday automatically, which will unlock additional options to customize your nation, like naming your nation's leader or adding a custom pre-title.
3. Each region has a homepage, which you can find on the main menu to the left. On the region's page you can find our World Factbook Entry (WFE), which has all the important links and announcements. Below it, you will find the Regional Message Board (RMB), where you can post messages that everyone else can see and respond to. It's also a good place to introduce yourself to the region and ask questions.
4. The World Assembly (WA), just like the real-life United Nations, has a General Assembly (GA) which deals with general legislation and a Security Council (SC) which deals with condemnations, commendations, and liberating regions that have been locked behind a password. Each player can only have one nation that is a member of the WA at a time and WA nations can endorse each other. The nation with the most endorsements in a region becomes that region's World Assembly Delegate (WAD), who gets more WA votes depending on their number of endorsements.
5. There are two general areas of activities that you can participate in on NationStates. First, is Gameplay (GP) which includes all activities found on the website itself, such as the WA, embassies between regions, inter-regional diplomacy, and answering issues. Because the NationStates game is very limited itself, there is also Roleplay (RP) to fill in the gaps, such as through making factbooks or news posts that describe your nation's people and government, mapmaking, making up fictional languages for your nation, and so much more!
6. Anything you say can be in-character (IC), which is done as if though you are directly roleplaying as your nation or its government. That level of formality is usually not required unless you are engaged in serious roleplay, so you can generally post as the player behind your nation on the RMB, Discord, and forums—that is, out-of-character (OOC).
