Imperator Nicholaus III is the Imperator of Hyperborean Unity, as well as Protector of the Magna Commonwealth and its Unity. He also has all of the titles that go with these, such as Emperor of the Ludist, and Emperor of the Joeanian. He is known for living a rather lavish lifestyle, with lovers, feasts and grandeur, and thus he can be considered quite popular with the aristocracy. However there are many from the Kristic Church denouncing this, as they do.
Imperator Nicholaus III was born into a wealthy and privileged aristocratic family of the Lombardo Dynasty, the Counts of Servius, who were direct paternal descendants of King Luis VIII Nicholaus II of the Magna Commonwealth, from who Nicholaus III got his name. And thus Nicholaus would have an upbringing of grandeur, and a great many servants. He got a great education on the Royal University of Gnesna, where he studied Law. However his life would change drastically once his grandfather was chosen to become King of Janosia.
With his grandfather chosen to become the King of Janosia, and his father as the Crown Prince, it was apparent that Nicholaus III would one day inherit the Kingdom. However this would first be in many years, and so his lifestyle didn’t change much. However he looked on as his grandfather, and subsequently his father, had nothing to say in the politics of the land. They were after all just Constitutional Momarchs, and their only real purpose was to ensure an alliance between the Magna and the Janosians. Nicholaus did not want the same for him, he wanted to rule with power. Absolute power. And so he tried influencing his brother and father, but only his brother listened and agreed. Once again his life would change, however, when his father became Imperator of Hyperborean Unity. This would happen after their distant cousin, Luis XI of Hyperborea, died without any living sons. And so the title would pass all the way to the father of Nicholaus, Septimus IV. Greedy for power, he would prove to hold great influence. However a man with even greater influence would be his nephew, Prince Augustus. Nonetheless Nicholaus III would inherit the throne after the death of his father.
With a list for absolute authority, one only matched by his ancestors and his nephew, Imperator Nicholaus III is not content sharing his power with the Prime Minister of Hyperborea. Nonetheless this is what he must do. Taking power, he would find himself in a war against the Untecnan Empire. One that his nephew, Prince Augustus, had swayed Septimus IV into declaring. Septimus would however not allow Prince Augustus to hold as much power as he did under the rule of his father, short as it was. And would instead have Captain Markus Meibomius-Bierhals as his main advisor, a rising star and powerful man within the Red Forces, despite his age and being a commoner. Not feeling threatened by Markus, as he did his nephew, the Captain would be allowed several responsibilities when Nicholaus III would be otherwise occupied, be it because of feasting or some other of his many privileges.

Imperator Nicholaus III would be married to Marie de Razafin, a Malagasy Princess, and former lover of Imperator Augustus V. With her he’d have a daughter, Regina, and no other children. Being openly unfaithful, his marriage to Marie is not on the best of terms. Then again it is suspected that she is multiple affairs herself. She definitely has a history of being so. But nonetheless their marriage persists, though mostly for political reasons.
