Atlanc)As the working class around the world unites in celebration of the International Workers' Day, the people of Vietnam also commemorate a significant milestone in their struggle for independence and liberation: the 50th Anniversary of Reunification Day, or officially known as the Day of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Half a century ago, on April 30, 1975, the flag of the National Liberation Front was raised triumphantly over the Presidential Palace in Saigon, marking the end of the American war and the complete reunification of North and South Vietnam.
This historic victory was not merely a military triumph. It was the culmination of decades of resistance against colonialism, imperialism, and capitalist exploitation. It was the fruit of solidarity of the people of the three Indochinese countries. It was the manifestation of the collective strength of revolutionary and peace advocacy forces around the world. And it was the will of a people who refused to bow before foreign powers, and who long to be the master of their own destiny with the spirit of, in the words of Uncle Ho, "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom".
FROM PARIS TO SAIGON
With the signing of the Paris Peace Accords of 1973, marked the beginning of American withdrawal from Vietnam, and led to a significant decline in military support for the South Vietnamese regime. In addition, Congress’ override of Nixon’s veto on the War Powers Resolution of 1973, which limits the U.S. president’s ability to initiate or escalate military actions abroad, the Watergate scandal, and, finally, Nixon’s resignation furthered diverting America’s attention and support away from the Saigon regime.
By the end of 1974, observing the weakened South Vietnam regime, North Vietnam’s leadership recognized the final chapter to this war and the end of the American-backed regime was now imminent. On the 4th of March 1975, the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1975, or commonly known as the 1975 Spring Offensive, started:
On March 10th, our army captured Buon Ma Thuot, the largest city in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and a strategic location.
On March 19th, our army prevented the enemy’s counter-offensive, successfully held onto Buon Ma Thuot.
On March 21st, our army started the siege on Hue, the former imperial capital. The Hue - Da Nang Campaign started.
On March 24th, our army completely destroyed and drove the fleeing enemy out of the Central Highlands. The Central Highlands Campaign succeeded.
On March 26th, our army successfully captured Hue. Onward to Da Nang.
On March 29th, our army marched into Da Nang, a major hub and primary entry point of the Americans. The Hue - Da Nang Campaign succeeded.
On March 31st, our army successfully liberated Binh Dinh province.
On April 1st, our army successfully liberated Phu Yen province.
On April 2nd, our army successfully liberated Khanh Hoa province. The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) collapsed on all fronts against our marches. Within one month from the start of the General Offensive and Uprising, the Liberation Army successfully controlled 16 provinces, 5 cities, captured over 3/4 of South Vietnam’s territory and liberated over half of the population from the Saigon regime. The march to Saigon had begun.
On April 9th, our army started the offensive into the final wall of the Saigon regime. The Xuan Loc - Long Khanh Campaign started. The enemy tried to hold onto their last stance with their final efforts.
On April 21st, after weeks of fighting, the “steel gate” of Xuan Loc fell, our army arrived at the entrance to Saigon. The Xuan Loc - Long Khanh Campaign succeeded. Their president, Nguyen Van Thieu, resigned. In his resignation speech, Thieu claimed, “I am resigning but not deserting… Perhaps, our country will gain another combatant on the battlefront. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with the compatriots and combatants to defend our country.”
On April 25th, in the midst of the night, Thieu fled to Taiwan.
On April 26th, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign started. Our offensives and uprisings took place all across the Mekong Delta and Southeast Vietnam.
On April 28th, our army liberated Phuoc Tuy province and the coastal city Vung Tau. From all sides, we headed toward Saigon.
On April 29th, U.S. President Gerald Ford started Operation Frequent Wind to evacuate the last American civilians from Saigon. To avoid a potential confrontation with the United States, our army paused the offensive in the outskirt of Saigon.
On April 30th, our army marched into Saigon. At 11:30 AM, our tanks smashed through the gates of the Independence Palace, marking the Fall of Saigon and the end to American Imperialism in Indochina. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign succeeded. President Duong Van Minh announced the unconditional surrender of South Vietnam.

FIFTY YEARS OF BUILDING SOCIALISM
Since reunification, Vietnam has made tremendous strides. From the ashes of war, the nation rebuilt its cities, revived its industries, and lifted millions out of poverty. Land reform was implemented to redistribute lands to the landless farmers and workers, education was extended throughout the country, and healthcare became accessible to all. While challenges persisted, Vietnam stood strong and resilient against all opposing forces.
The Đổi Mới reforms of the late 1980s marked a new phase in the socialist construction - opening up the economy while preserving the leadership role of the Party with the goal of advancing socialism. These reforms had enabled the nation the means to persevere through the darkest days of the working class with the fall of the Soviet Union and into the 21st century.
The spirit of 1975 lives on in Vietnam’s fight for equality, independence, and peace around the world. Vietnam has continued to play an active role in the international movements and in support for the self-determination of all nations across the globe.
From the vast savannas of Africa to the resilient shores of Cuba, the golden-starred red banner that once flew proudly across the battlefields in pursuit of peace and independence now soars in the name of global solidarity.
THE 50TH REUNIFICATION ANNIVERSARY
On the historic day of April 30th, all levels of Vietnamese government, including the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Ho Chi Minh City Authorities solemnly held a Grand Anniversary marking the 50th Anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification.
The ceremony took place at 6:30 am on April 30 along Le Duan Street, District 1, and several central streets in Ho Chi Minh City. The grand military and civilian parade, overseen by the Ministry of National Defense, included four ceremonial marching blocks, 36 military parade blocks, 12 mass procession blocks, and over 13,000 participants with helicopter and aircraft displays over Le Duan Street and Saigon River. Most noteworthy, this anniversary also had the participations of the Lao People's Armed Forces, Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the People's Liberation Army of China. And at 7:00 pm, a Cavalry performance was held in the middle of central Ho Chi Minh City at Nguyen Hue Walking Street and Le Loi Street.

Moreover, the ceremony also welcomed over 20 international delegations, including the General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, the First Vice President of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, and the President of the Senate of Cambodia, Hun Sen, and more than 100 representatives of peace organizations, anti-war movements, and international friends who supported Vietnam, as well as representatives from over 20 international localities twinned with Ho Chi Minh City and many distinguished individuals who contributed to the anti-war movement, including the family members of Norman R. Morrison, who set himself ablaze in front of the Pentagon in 1965 to protest the United States involvement with the war in Vietnam.
Let this 50th anniversary of Reunification Day to not only be a moment of remembrance, but also a call to action, to deepen our commitment to Socialism, to stand in solidarity with the oppressed, and to continue the fight for a just and equitable world.
Long Live The Victory of April 30th, 1975!

Co-founders of Communism
Begin in the French Revolution and its aftermath
Liberté, égalité, fraternité - unfulfilled dream due to the continued existence of massive divides between rich and poor - property rights
Gracchus Babeuf - proto-communist revolutionary who led the Conspiracy of the Equals in 1797 against the French Directory - alleviate the economic suffering of the Parisian proletariat
We aspire to live and die equal, the way we were born: we want real equality or death; this is what we need. And we’ll have this real equality, at whatever the cost.
So-called "Utopian Socialists" sought to use Reason to create a more equal society, usually by establishing a utopian commune somewhere.
Henri de Saint-Simon - identified the needs of the industrial working class
Charles Fourier - Believed in a cooperative society that would lead to universal harmony and the end of work and strife - inspiration of various utopian communes
Robert Owens - Welsh industrialist who thought that workers should be treated better.
Established a utopian community at New Harmony, Indiana
Louis Auguste Blanqui - the Revolution should be carried out by a small, secretive, die-hard revolutionary vanguard who establish a temporary dictatorship
Modern kibbutzim in Israel are a legacy of these utopian communes Edit for TRS: Kibbutz were all settler colonialist projects (at the expense of Palestinians and their lives of course)
Side track: Anarchism - seek the abolition of the State and everything that perpetuates authority/coercion/hierarchy
Pierre-Joseph Proudhon - "Father of Anarchism" - worker's councils and co-ops would lead to the peaceful dissolution of the State
Mihail Bakunin - rival of Marx in the International Workingmen's Association - opposed Marx's ideas on the DotP (Dictatorship of the Proletariat) and instead thought the Revolution should abolish the state immediately
1864 - International Workingmen's Association (First International) founded - union of various left-wing groups all seeking to overthrow the crowned heads of Europe and capitalism
The Industrial Revolution
Europe changed from a continent of peasants ruled by aristocratic nobles to one of industrial workers ruled by bourgeois capitalists
The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.
The ruling class vs the oppressed working class
Bourgeoisie - those who own the factories, capital, and thus rule. Overthrew the feudal aristocracy in 1792 and 1848.
Proletariat - those who work in the mines, farms, factories, and cities
Industrial revolution meant you now had thousands of workers in a factory, all selling their labor for their industrial bosses in exchange for wages
Labor theory of value - Price of a commodity (stuff made by human labor) = the cost of its production.
Industrialist wants to make a profit - thus the workers make more than is needed to take care of the needs of the workers. They are exploited for surplus labor
Industrial modes of production mean that we have the capacity to do away with all this and live in a society that produces enough for everyone to live comfortably, but we do not.
The Revolution seeks to abolish private property (ownership of factories, mines, farms, etc..) by individuals and instead transfer it to collective ownership by the masses
The Proletariat, who are a majority of the population, will establish the Dictatorship of the Proletariat (as opposed to the Dictatorship of the Bourgeoisie) which will be a true and universal democracy - see the Paris Commune of 1871
"Scientific" Socialism
Three Sources of Marxism - V.I. Lenin
Materialism - The foundation for understanding history and society is economics - how are the commodities of survival produced and organized?
Capital: Evolution of Classical English political economy- Adam Smith and David Ricardo
Relation between people - wage-worker sells his labor to the owners of the means of production
Some part of that labor goes to paying for the worker, all surplus value is pure profit for the capitalist
French Revolutionary Ideas - see the Utopian Socialists and French Revolution
German philosophy - Hegel and dialectics
Feedback from zu:
your overview is great for a classroom setting. i quickly noted down a couple of things i'd change after reading through it though
the labour theory of value section needs some work. a commodity in marxism is not just stuff made by humans but a product made to be sold, you can use an example like a cake made for a birthday (not a commodity) vs. a cake made in a bakery. and you need to talk about socially necessary labour time to get past basic objections like the mud pie argument
in the scientific socialism section i would first discuss the use of "scientific" in marxism in the same way the german term wissenschaft is used. it's not saying that marxism is the same as biology
rather than discuss marx's capital as an evolution of classical political econ it should be presented as an immanent critique - an critique that uses the methods of classical polecon to demonstrate the inherent issues with capitalism. capital vol i is actually an iron man of capitalism - it's discussing capitalism in an ideal setting, not discussing issues like unequal exchange that abound in actually existing capitalism
Feedback from Preco:
echoing @zu's comments, i'd also like to add a few things
optional, but i think noting the split and dissolution of the first international due to the debate between marxism vs anarchism is good context for the history of leftism
i think there's a meaningful difference in clarity in saying that for LTV, price = the cost of production, which fails to emphasize the labor part, i.e. that value is created by labour, imo. i think a super quick example would be nice, e.g. "worker makes 10 cakes, but is only paid the price of 3 cakes, because if they were paid the price of 10 cakes there would be no profit for the bourgeoisie".
id throw in a quick note of private vs personal property, because otherwise you get toothbrush memes (and genuine confusion). Marx did not say that the proletariat had to be the majority to establish a DotP, only that they needed majority support:
"Where the peasant exists on a mass scale as a private property owner, where he constitutes a more or less substantial majority, as in all the states of the Western European continent . . . the following occurs: either he prevents, wrecks every workers' revolution, as he has done up till now in France; or the proletariat (for the peasant proprietor does not belong to the proletariat and even where, according to his position, he does belong to it, he does not believe that he does) must as a government take measures through which the peasant finds his position directly improved and which thus win him for the revolution."
https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1874/04/bakunin-notes.htm (slightly different translation)
I think explaining why marxism is scientific socialism (particularly as opposed to utopian socialism) can be achieved by talking about what materialism is (as opposed to idealism), and then as zu said, using it for the wissenschaft of human history/development of socialism i'd rearrange the 3 sources and components as follows:
German philosophy, notably Hegel(ian dialectics) then Feuerbach, which led to diamat
English polecon, which led as zu said was an immanent critique (personally id mention Adam Smith and David Ricardo w/regards to LTV), which led to Marxist economics/critique of political economy
French revolution/consequent French (utopian) socialism, which led to histmat i.e. class struggle
you're doing god's(? engels'?) work comrade
oh i forgot @Prof. Panclasta, Bloc Patriot
Industrial modes of production mean that we have the capacity to do away with all this and live in a society that produces enough for everyone to live comfortably, but we do not.
i dont think one can say that industrial modes mean sufficiency for everyone (given that the industrial rev was 300 years ago), but certainly modern/contemporary production, and id highlight the fact that we produce 10 billion people's worth of food yet ~10%/700-800m people go hungry (i.e. experience pain from inadequate dietary energy) with ~30%/2.4b facing moderate or worse food insecurity as an (imo the best) example, and possibly also that there are 34 empty homes for every unhoused person in the us

A specter is haunting the world – the specter of reaction.
Those who unjustly own the wealth of society are undertaking an awe-inspiring offensive against the working people who create that wealth. From the United States where permanent residents are being sent to foreign prison camps, to the United Kingdom where many are being arrested for simply planning protests – throughout much of the western world we are witnessing a tremendous upsurge in repressive methods being used by capitalist states.
It is easy to become despondent in such circumstances. What point would, one might ask, organizing and fighting back have if all such efforts are increasingly doomed to fail, suppressed by the state and ignored by a largely apathetic population?
Some solace can be found in observing the recent protests in Serbia.
The country had long witnessed low voter turnout rates especially among the youth, which were by consensus considered apolitical. The political status quo – dominated by effectively just one party, Srpska Napredna Stranka, an officially pro-EU party which had nonetheless maintained close connections to both Beijing and Moscow, seemed firm and quite unlikely to change. The Serbian oligarch class was likewise united in its support for the party – illustrated by the fact that SNS outspent its
competitors 2-to-1 in the last parliamentary election. Serbia, it seemed, was about to experience decades of rule by a corrupt neoliberal conservative party – a party that had over time become increasingly autocratic and repressive, spying on its
political rivals using Israeli spyware and
imprisoning activists opposed to controversial mining projects. That all changed on November 1, 2024. Sixteen people, waiting for their train at the Novi Sad railway station were killed by a newly renovated concrete canopy, which collapsed crushing its
unlucky victims. Allegations soon arose that the collapse was fully preventable, that it was the result of corrupt practices in government procurement and construction that was rushed to meet politically expedient deadlines. While the initial protest-vigils were not by any measure massive, the tide of unrest was rising. The true catalyst for that unrest was an incident in which students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts were violently attacked by a
group of government-aligned hooligans. A student movement emerged in response to this attack, blockading university buildings across Serbia. These blockades were organized via assemblies of students, via direct democracy.Student plenums quickly moved beyond just organizing university blockades – they soon became the backbone of a burgeoning anti-corruption movement emerging in response to the tragedy in Novi Sad. This movement culminated in one of the biggest gatherings in Serbian history – on March 15,
a crowd of 300,000 people marched through the streets of Belgrade demanding justice for the 16 victims of the November tragedy. This student movement, however, did not stop at these demands. Their vision for the transformation of Serbian society, though vague and undefined, still represented a fundamental break with the dysfunctional capitalist liberal democratic system of today. They, in their Letter to the People of Serbia, proclaimed that
“representative democracy is clearly not able to find a way out of the social and political crisis that has lasted for several decades in our country, while the direct democracy model, based on our experience, stands a good chance.” Because of this, the students invited the citizens of Serbia to
“turn to local self-government and self-organise according to the model of direct democracy – through the statutory body of citizens’ assembly.”Today, a month after that call to action was first published, local citizens assemblies exist throughout Serbia, debating and deciding on everything from daily issues to national politics. While a serious reexamination of social relations,
“all power to the plenums” and the formation of a
central executive body that would coordinate the work of assemblies remain fringe left-wing positions – it is undoubtable that the student movement has shaken the Serbian capital owning class to its core and that it represents the first serious challenge that class has faced since October 5 and the reintegration of the Serbian economy into global economic flows. How did this immense shift originate from the apolitical youth, from the students?
Small, quantitative changes accumulate to a certain extent before eventually reaching a breaking point and resulting in big and rapid qualitative leaps that fundamentally change everything, or in Marx’s words
“merely quantitative changes beyond a certain point pass into qualitative differences.” As much as the successes of the student protests are impressive, they would not be possible without the small-scale organizing that preceded this explosion in activity. The
2014 anti-tuition blockades, for example, provided the much-needed historical examples of what to do and what not to do, as well as a body of people that student organizers could contact and rely on for advice relating to direct democracy in practice. Numerous smaller protests against
mining projects,
evictions, and
controversial construction projects provided ample opportunities for participants of current protests to gain practical experience in organizing political movements. These protests were, in hindsight though at the time this went on the whole unnoticed, becoming more and more common as time went on – heralding a rapid explosion of political activity and a qualitative change of Serbian politics that was to occur over the past six months. While the student protests in Serbia are by no means the epitome of theoretical Marxist purity, nor is it certain that they will even succeed in their aims, they do offer a practical lesson for leftists engaged in political organizing all around the world. Given the political circumstances in many of the countries you call home, your work, much like the work of those that organized the failed 2014 student blockades in Serbia, is unlikely to immediately lead to change – but it will provide a foundation without which any successful future revolt will be impossible.
To keep the stars burning bright during dark times; to keep the hope of a future revolutionary “supernova” alive – that is the highest calling one can ever hope for.
Colorado, U.S. would seem unremarkable to most. Mountains and plains, oil wells and over-priced suburbia, it could be substituted for any other western state. However, looking beyond the cookie-cutter houses and ski trails, a rich, bloody history can be found. And if you go to the southwest, out past the lights and down dirt roads, is a ghost town named Ludlow, where 111 years ago, 26 union men, women, and children, were brutally murdered by both a bourgeois private army and the Colorado National Guard: asleep in their tents, innocent of every crime but being proud workers.
The Colorado Coalfield Wars began in September 1913, as miners with the United Mine Workers of America began a strike against CF&I (Colorado Fuel and Iron), in regards to the hazardous working conditions and low wages brought by being paid per ton, and not being paid for “dead work”. At its peak, 12,000 miners joined the pickets and tent cities, resisting both the private security of CF&I and the state law enforcement.
We focus today on April 20th, 1914, at the Ludlow tent camp. The strike had been long on, and in a stalemate. Violence had been regular throughout the strike, with the Colorado National Guard being introduced to help break the stagnant situation for the mine operators. Three men of Troop A, consisting of mine guards, guardsmen, and Baldwin-Felts agents, approached the camp to demand the release of a non-existent captive. This was but a distraction, as other militia set up dynamite charges and machine gun positions overlooking the camp. On detonation of the charges, the guns opened fire on any strikers in the open. Other agents of Troop A began to charge through, setting ablaze the two miner stores and then, the tents. Men, women, children, all were caught in both the raging fires and then, the drum of gun fire. Of the ~1200 miners within the camp, 21 would be slaughtered by the thugs of CF&I. The leader of the camp, Louis Tikas, was beaten with a rifle butt then shot in the back; his body and two others were left for passing trains to observe for several days. Beneath one tent hid 4 women and 11 children, desperate to survive. The murderers burned the tent above, and all but two of the women suffocated from the toxic smoke. Eventually, 200 soldiers of the actual Colorado National Guard came to aid Troop A, hunting down miners with little care to the legality of the attack.
Did any retribution come to the assailants? Did karma turn upon them, envelope them in flames? No. Only one of the callous attackers was killed in the engagement. It is quite hard to fire back when every single angle around you is full of death.
The response across the nation was furious. It fueled pro-union support, with significant blame being put on John D. Rockefeller, owner of CF&I, and heightened resistance to the strikebreakers across the entire picket, culminating in President Wilson sending federal troops to finally break the strike on April 29th. In 1915, Congress published a report which was instrumental in the formation of child labor laws and the 8-hour workday, a staple of the original strike. In 2009, the site of the massacre was designated a Historical Landmark, with recent archeological work supporting the tales of the miners and their kin, and how brutal the fight was.
What then, can we take from the Ludlow Massacre? Beyond anything else, take this. Capitalists and their minions will do anything, take anything, just for the slightest bit of profit. Be it the pay of miners, or the lives of their children. We must be prepared to resist, we must take up arms, and we must beat back the cronies and their violence, overcome it, if we wish to see victory against the companies.

Ok so to start off, could you introduce Osiris to our readers? |
Res |
Introduce Osiris? Well simply put, Osiris is the raider GCR, the only one. We're an egypt-themed sinker (restorer for people joining NS in the last year) that's managed to stick around one way or another over the last 13 years. We're very defined by our internal culture, which often is a combination of the joking "bully" culture that we've developed over the years, along with a reflection of the culture of our pharaohs' philosophy and effort. We're also fairly diverse, I want to say nearly all of our pharaohs in the last 8 years have been LGBTQ+. I'm gonna be the closest thing to a cishet HA/pharaoh since Koth, and even I'm not really that het, despite my joking about it. |
Islas |
You've recently been named heir apparent, could you tell us a bit more about yourself. |
Res |
Well, I'm Res, full nation name is [nationFederation of the Resentine Kingdom[/nation]. I've been active and inactive on NS for a little over 10 years now. Starting over in TSP and then hopping over to Osiris. I've been holding down one of the Guardian positions in Osiris since April 2019, so I've seen a good amount of people come through. Admittedly I'm normally fairly reserved, I have to sit and think a little to make my brain work. But I'm dedicated and when I set my mind to something, I'm gonna work hard and follow through, even if I stumble along the way. |
Islas |
Ah! The fourth is coming up are you doing anything? |
Res |
Yes! Osiris hosts a "Star Wars Month" every year during May. Credit to Cretanja, who was a member of TCB before coming over to Osiris. He was a really big proponent of a lot of our cultural events, and especially Star Wars Month when he was more active. |
Islas |
Oh yeah, I believe I've met Cret before 🤔 |
Res |
I'd want to go back to 1259 BC and see the formation of the Egyptian-Hittite peace treaty. It is an accomplishment that is, obviously, massively overshadowed by the construction of the Great Pyramids but is incredibly important as one of the earliest articles of interstate diplomacy that we know of. I would want to see all of the bureaucracy that went into making that negotiation happen, all of the scribes running in-between with messages and plans and such. How different or similar those negotiations would be reached, compared to the kind of international agreements we make today would be incredibly cool for me. |
Islas |
Ancient Egyptians were known to be very fond of bread, a staple in their cuisine, so much so that they were called "the bread eaters": what's the best bread you've ever had? |
Res |
Being real, I get that it's technically not a bread in of itself. And it's probably not actually the best "bread" I've ever had but it ranks #1 on my emotional satisfaction, and that's how I consider best. But in 2023 I went to Europe to visit my partner for the first time. I had been travelling for almost a week at this point, flying into Heathrow, taking the train up north (with a few days rest after this, my partner was living in Northern England at the time), taking a ferry to the Netherlands and then a train down to Brussels. When we got there, we decided we wanted to go on a date but not anywhere fance, so we went out to a little hole-in-the-wall Albanian pizza place, got cheese and pepperoni calzones and found a small park to have a little date in. it was greasy, it was cheesy, and it was fantastic. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. |
Islas |
Ancient Egypt was the first society to see workers go on strike, so there's an obvious connection between our themes, if you could share a meal with TCBers (blocheads if you will) what would it be? |
Res |
OK so I'm operating on the assumption that I am making strike food, and in that particular case I'm gonna go with mac & cheese. It is admittedly one of my go to comfort foods, but overall easy to make but with the potential to be more complicated if desired. It's also very adaptable, you can make it vegeterian, find cheese alternatives and go vegan, go gluten free. I'm also just really good at making it. |
Islas |
And last but not least, do you have any tips for our readers on how to get the most out of NationStates? What is a special insight that's helped you in your in-game career? |
Res |
Don't forget that at the end of the day, NS is a game. It is a game that we all care about, but, it is a game. If you're feeling stress, pressure, take a moment for yourself and breathe. If you're struggling, ask for help. If you see someone struggling, lend a hand. Kindness, being friendly, stepping up when asked is what's gotten me going and kept me around, letting me build up friendships in Osiris and beyond. Always leave room for empathy |
Islas |
Thank you so much, it's been good to speak to you, and I wish you well in the pharaohcy! |

Worried you are the wrong kind of nation for a hovercraft race? Fear not! Convenium boosters supplied by Tethys 13 can level the playing field between a dunebuggy, camel-drawn cart and traditional podracer, ensuring no-one is left out! Submit your team
here, and check out the created teams below! Here is how it works - 1d20 + Acceleration determines the score for that lap. If Handling is too low, a high roll can cause you to spin out, forcing you to take the lower of two rolls on the next lap! If Awareness is too low, a low roll can cause you to collide with an obstacle or other participant, causing you to lose progress on the next lap!
In addition, there are five potential hazards:Sandstorm: A sandstorm closes in on the track! Those in the lead will have the advantage escaping, while those lagging behind will struggle. In addition, if your Acceleration is too poor, you may find your intakes Fouled, giving you a penalty next lap!
Canyon: You must make your way through a treacherous canyon filled with winding paths and rocks! Those in the lead will be disadvantaged by having to choose a path, while those in the rear will be better informed and able to catch up. In addition, if your Handling is insufficient, your craft may get Battered, giving you a penalty next round!
Raiders: The racers are attacked by Sekhmetusken Raiders! Those in the middle of the pack will have to slow to prevent being picked off alone. In addition, if your Awareness is lacking, your craft may be Damaged by incoming fire you failed to avoid! Plus, there is the slim chance your craft is hit in a weak point and destroyed...
No Ref Zone: The referee observers are prevented from overseeing the field for a lap! The odds of Collisions passing on from one to another is greatly increased!
Deathshroud: The racers are attacked by Deathshroud, with some finding themselves Hunted by the terrifying monsters! Being Hunted may grant you wings of fear, greatly boosting your score, or drag you down the leaderboard. Worry not however! Even if your racer is dragged from the saddle and their craft wrecked, Golden Jackal will ensure no lives are lost!
Name: Renen Veta
Craft: BRJE-RIE T960 'Deserter' Type B
Nation: Federation of the Resentine Kingdom
Sponsors: Bracca RamJet Engineering - Resentine Industrial Engineering
Acceleration: 7
Handling: 8
Awareness: 5
Team Colour: 4d18d1
Details: When Resentine Industrial Engineering decided they wanted to get into the podracing game, they wanted the best parts and the best racer, with very little care of where either of those came from. That is, until they realized how expensive assembling a professional podracing team was. So instead of doing what they set out to do, they found a team with a little heart and a lot of scrap parts on the backwater scrapping world of Bracca. Led by Renen Veta, an Ithroian born on Bracca, the team of Bracca RamJet Engineering would develop the T960 podracer to endure. Never mind that the pilot can't really see much above or below he cockpit. But who needs sight when you can simply out speed and outlast anything in your way! Or, well, at least whatever you might with scrap parts stolen from broken down starships.

Surely nothing could possibly go wrong.
