Through the Hollow Veil: Lazarus endures. Lazarus resists. And Lazarus thrives.

Citizens of Lazarus,

For many months, and more than half a year now, I held my tongue. But the time for silence has finally passed.

For some time now a plot has been organized against us, which we are best to refer to as the Hollow Veil plot, due to the hidden and cloaked nature of its participants.

This was a coordinated attempt to subvert Lazarus from within. For almost half a year this Hollow Veil Plot has been cloaked in half-truths, and disingenuous concerns for ‘democracy’ or the 'rule of law', which have been paraded around NSGP like a circus act, while those involved or sympathetic to the plot violated our regional laws and sovereignty at every turn, with total disregard for the laws when it suited them.

Let it be known now that without ambiguity, or dishonestly, that a Hollow Veil plot existed here in Lazarus and abroad, and it was only due to the dedication and vigilance of our community, and the resolve of our institutions that it failed to seize the region, or to send Lazarus into civil war and chaos.

What began with slander and accusations against loyal citizens Wang Yao and Domais, soon unraveled this year into a full-scale attempt at political manipulation and destabilization by three or more individuals. These three individuals, McChimp, JoWhatup, and Killer Kitty aided by the nature of Lazarene politics after Debussy’s exposure as Feux, sought to use the lack of a clear narrative and understanding of the security situation in Lazarus to take the region.

And while those involved in the plot tried to cloak themselves in claims of righteousness, this culminated in the revelation that the Hollow Veil Plot sought in public and private complete control over our World Assembly votes and foreign policy, and the Delegacy itself, in exchange for non-aggression with Lone Wolves United. That demand, perhaps more than any other, made clear what we were facing: not concerned citizens, or any legitimate opposition, but opportunists seeking to destabilize the region for political gain.

But we acted against them swiftly. We passed measures to block outside interference and fortified our region.

As a result, some necessary but painful security actions took place. And the chaos the plotters wanted was denied as a result. When they tried to lobby votes against the region to undermine security measures, we outmaneuvered them quietly, strengthening our Assembly Procedure Act and Citizenship Act, and safeguarding our democracy. And when they tried to discredit our laws and maliciously claim that citizens couldn't vote once they became citizens outside of an election, we held firm and defended the spirit and word of the law.

And through every stage of this plot, Lazarus demonstrated the greatest strength of any region: its people.

Loyal citizens, newcomers, defenders of democracy and of true freedom and the law - were not manipulated voters or imports, as our adversaries tried to claim. They did not abandon their leadership out of paranoid rumors and fears of a 'coup' by its own Vice Delegate and Prime Minister. Rumors and fears against the very citizens that had protected them for so long and defended their laws.

Lazarenes however were watching, and they chose stability, clarity, and a friendly and united community over chaos and fear.

What emerged was not the collapse of the region, as the plotters had hoped. Instead, it was dramatic transformation that has made Lazarus stronger, wiser, and more united than ever before.

Let this be known far and wide: Lazarus is not a colony of another region or organization, nor a stepping-stone, nor a trophy to be won.

It is a region that stands not only for its sovereignty, but for the principles of self-determination throughout Nationstates.

To our loyal citizens: we honor you.

And to any who would attempt to exploit our openness ever again—
