Statement on the Adoption of the World Assembly Resolution: International War Crimes Convention

The Office of the Overlord acknowledges that the World Assembly has formally adopted the International War Crimes Convention, despite the Defendonian Empire voting AGAINST the proposal during the legislative process.

The Government of the Defendonian Empire wishes to remind both domestic and international audiences that the Empire exercised its democratic right within the World Assembly to oppose the resolution. While the outcome was not the one sought by our delegation, we recognise the official result of the vote.

Accordingly, the Government announces that the implementation and adoption of this resolution within the Defendonian Empire will be subject to administrative review and procedural delays.

These delays are necessary to:

* Conduct a comprehensive legal assessment of the resolution and its interaction with existing Defendonian law.
* Evaluate any implications for national sovereignty and the Empire’s independent legal framework.
* Review the administrative, judicial, and military procedures that may be affected.
* Ensure that any implementation is carried out in a manner consistent with the interests and security of the Defendonian Empire.

During this review period, no immediate legislative or regulatory changes will be enacted solely as a consequence of the resolution.

The Office further emphasises that this review should not be interpreted as a rejection of international cooperation. Rather, it reflects the Government’s longstanding policy that international obligations must be carefully examined before domestic implementation.

Citizens are advised that normal government services, judicial proceedings, and military operations will continue without interruption while the review is underway.

The Office of the Overlord will issue further updates should any decision be made regarding the formal adoption of the resolution.

The sovereignty of the Defendonian Empire remains the foremost responsibility of this Government.
