2027 Gold World Cup

The West Aahinan Association for Sport (WAAS) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2027 Gold World Cup, the third edition of the Gold World Cup and the world's premier international football tournament.
Following the success of the 2026 Gold World Cup, which saw Bluu crowned champions after defeating hosts West Aahina 2–1 after extra time, attention now turns towards the next chapter in international football.
For the first time, the tournament will be known by its calendar year rather than its edition number.

Tournament Format:
-16 national teams*
-Four groups of four teams
-Round-robin group stage
-Top two nations from each group advance
-Quarter-finals
-Semi-finals
-Third Place Play-off
-Final

*WAAS reserves the right to alter the tournament format if necessary.

Applications
Applications are now officially open.
National football associations wishing to compete should submit an application by telegramming WAAS during the application period.
Applications should include:
-Nation name
-Confirmation of participation
-Any relevant football information (optional)

Any additional information required will be requested by WAAS via telegram.

The defending champions and the eventual host nation(s) will qualify automatically if a qualification series is required, in accordance with the official regulations.

Host Selection
Unlike previous editions, the 2027 Gold World Cup will not have a predetermined host.
Hosting rights will instead be awarded through the official WAAS bidding process, which is now also open.
Both:
-Single-nation bids
-Joint bids
are welcome.

Following the close of applications, WAAS will evaluate all bids and announce a shortlist of three candidates.
The qualified football associations will then vote to determine the successful host nation(s), unless WAAS announces an alternative procedure.
Prospective hosts are encouraged to consult the Gold World Cup Handbook for the full hosting requirements before submitting a bid.

WAAS World Rankings
The official WAAS World Rankings will determine the pre-tournament rankings of participating nations.

The rankings are calculated using the official WAAS Elo Rating System and are updated after every Gold World Cup match.

Looking Back
In 2025, the first ever Gold World Cup was held in West Aahina, which featured 13 teams and ended with Tea Island Systems beating Indo-athena in the final. In 2026, the tournament expanded to 16 teams where Bluu ended up beating hosts West Aahina in the final.

-Tournament administration

Participating associations are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these regulations before applying.

A New Era
The 2027 Gold World Cup marks the beginning of a new era for the competition.
For the first time:
-Tournament administration will be conducted officially through WAAS.
-Hosts will be selected through an official bidding process.
-The WAAS World Rankings will be used as the official international ranking system.
-The tournament will carry its calendar year as its official title.

These developments represent another important step in the continued growth of international football and the Gold World Cup.
