Military Personnel and Organization: the Six Branches

The total number of military service members in the Folgorian armed forces, known as the Folgorian System Defense Force or FSDF, is 414,500,000. This includes active service members and pilots as well as all other positions.

Folgoria’s military is separated into six branches: the Aerospace Force, the Assault Force, the EVAC Force, the POLICE Force, the Technical Force, and the Special Operations Force.

• The Folgorian Aerospace Force (FAE) is made up of the pilots and crewmembers flying the Bastion’s warships, transports, and fightercraft. FAE pilots are known as Valkyries, while capital ship crew are called Voyagers.

• The Folgorian Assault Force (FAF) is the Bastion’s in-atmosphere fighting force and includes soldiers, shock troops, and combat-capable vehicle operators. Folgoria’s infantry is split into two groups: the Rangers, a traditional combined-arms multi-domain force, and the Raptors, specialized heavy infantry equipped for close-range engagements. Unofficially, FAF troops call their vehicle operators “rollers” and their rotorcraft pilots “razors.” This branch is the third-most common area for citizens to serve in during their mandatory conscription.

• The Folgorian EVAC Force (FEVAC) takes on the role of defending Folgoria’s capital ships from infantry boarding and conducting those same boarding actions against enemy ships. EVAC stands for Extra-Vehicular Assault Capable, and its soldiers are known as Raiders.

• The Folgorian Technical Force (FTECH) is a wide-reaching force whose members support all other branches as well as operate Folgoria’s military space stations and satellites. Technical personnel can be found maintaining capital ships or repairing main battle tanks during ground operations. Due to the wide range of skills necessary for this branch, this is the second-most common force for citizens to be conscripted into.

• As an overarching organization, the POLICE Force serves as Folgoria’s law enforcement and its national guard. While the People’s Organization for Limited Infractions of Civic Enactments is primarily armed with non-lethal weapons for operations involving civilians, each station is equipped with an armory of legacy ballistic and plasma weapons as well as vehicle-mounted weapons that can be attached to standard POLICE prowlers. Frequent civil unrest leads this force to be the most common branch Folgorian citizens serve their conscription in. New recruits are cycled to a citadel on a different continent so that familiarity does not impede their duties.

• The Special Operations Force (SOFOR) includes specialty formations such as the 134th-150th Riser Corps as well as Folgoria’s most elite operators like the Polaris group. While specially-trained formations are fairly transparent to the public, groups at the highest level are shrouded in the densest possible layers of secrecy and security.
