Events Digest

It’s sure been a bit since you’ve heard from us! For the term so far, I went about making a lowkey version of our SummerFest, a mostly annual festival where we have fun activities for a couple weeks in the summer! For this rendition, we had daily polls for a little over 2 weeks, a rock-paper-scissors tournament (which Southsea won in the end), Wordle-style puzzles once every other day, and a games night!

Talking about game nights, we had another one of those this month, this time held jointly with the Commonwealth of Sovereign States (CSS)! Throughout the night, we played Skribbl.io, Death by AI, and Secret Hitler! We will also be hosting another with Communitas as of writing!

There’s more in the works, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! Apart from that, that’s all from me.

State of the Region - August 2026
We’re entering the homestretch now!

My Fellow NBBers,

My administration is doing a lot as well, continuing from our second into the third month of this term. I went on another Leave of Absence from August 8th to August 16th.

In Domestic Affairs, they recently just ran a Regional Census which lasted from August 5th to August 17th. The results of the Regional Census will be released very soon! The Domestic Affairs has been hard at work planning out their big project, the University of Yodle, which was passed by a law in Parliament while also planning out this very edition of The Social Reformer and continuing to update Regional Dispatches.

In Roleplay, the current Minister Revoia was out on a Leave of Absence and was filled in by Chalistine. Roleplay continues as of now to continuously update the map and update other maps made while planning out new unique things for our Roleplay.

In Events, they have been hard at work planning many joint events that will be announced soon along with planning out and executing SummerFest. Events just recently hosted a game night with the Commonwealth of Sovereign States.

In Community Affairs, Recruitment has remained strong and thousands of telegrams are continuing to be sent out! Our population continues to increase following our last edition! Recruitment Competitions are still regularly held along with lots of Question of the Days and Regional Polls! Community Affairs implemented in our new Regional Telegram and recently enacted improvements to our Recruitment Telegram.

In the Arts, they are currently developing concepts of Art for our new Regional Awards. The Ministry also executed the return of the Yodcast with our newest being an update on how things are going with the host being Minister of the Arts Yodle and guests being Myself, Revoia, and The Washington Federation.

In Foreign Affairs & World Assembly Affairs, on the FA Side we saw the return of Namojia to head Foreign Affairs with Western Arba Fir now only heading WA. FA has been hard at work contacting our allies and working with Events to plan Events with them. I am also excited to say we do have a treaty on the way so stay tuned to see what region will be our next treaty ally 😉. On the World Assembly Affairs side, WA has been hard at work helping NBBers plan out WA proposals and joint collaborative WA initiatives with other regions alongside FA. While continuing to also continuously send out recommendation dispatches on WA proposals. Our region also has our very own Tranche! Which is a new feature of the WA to recommend certain WA proposals to Adopt to maintain compliance to vote in the WA. Visit our Tranche here! Consider following it as well!

Overall a solid continuation of a very successful term so far. See you next edition!

The Deputy Prime Minister’s Report
This was written in August, by the way…

Hello again dear readers! Time sure does fly, quite the opposite feeling compared to the last edition. So, what’s been happening? On my end, I’ve become able to be more active than I was before, mostly thanks to managing my time better. So you may ask, what’s that time been diverted to?

What I’m proudest of is a many months long project getting to its final stages. For those who are unsure, I’m referring to the WA proposal: Regulating Foreign Aid. It was co-written between different members of the region whom I’d like to thank for their immense efforts, like The Washington Federation, Toastarian and The Democratic Disney States, as well as other members like Western Arba Fir and Namojia, who are still helping push it through the approval process. Obviously I don’t think I need to state just how important and historic this resolution is to the region, and it could be even more depending on how everything goes. As from a personal point of view, this was the first time I ever participated in creating an NS WA resolution for any of the 2 councils, and I have to say it sure was special, I never expected just how challenging it can be. On that, I’d like to once again thank all those who supported the process, whether it’s the writers, members of the WA committee, or other regions’s support in these final stages.

Now, this will most likely be published as a DPM address, but at the time I’m finishing writing the article, I am actually your acting Prime Minister due to DDS’s leave of absence. Second time this term I receive all the power, and I’m glad I can help the region and the rest of the governing bodies in continuing their work without their elected leader, and it’s a pleasure working even closer than usual with these amazing ministers we have, and am personally delighted to be able to welcome back someone I’m proud to consider a friend like Namojia.

Now, what’s happening the rest of the term? Well, we’re still planning different events, with the help of the FA committee. In a look around the grounds, RP is still very nicely up and running, I recently wrote another recommendation for the WA committee, DA is doing what it does like directing this TSR, and the Community ministry continues to make sure nobody gets bored during this summer. Oh and let’s not forget the parliament, which after a big change in leadership has shown it’s not the person who leads that matters, but those who follow critically. That’s all from me, enjoy reading everything else!

Editor's Note from The Washington Federation: This report was written over one month ago. In the time since then, since we were advised that it would not pass in its current state due to waning support from important partners, this WA proposal has been rescinded from the queue and is back in the drafting stage. We will update you on this proposal next month!

Domestic Affairs Update
The lightest read of the entire lot!

Hello NBBers. It’s your DA Minister Truzipa here for your monthly DA report.

First me, The Washington Federation, and all our TSR writers had successfully released the 37th edition of The Social Reformer, the first one in three months! Hope you read it once you get done with this one!

Secondly, Me and our Head of Data Fetridge had released the new Government Approval Poll in less than 24 hours of TSR 37 coming out.

Third, since they haven’t been updated for months, we have been updating our regional dispatches to have the correct info.

Lastly, the DA Committee had been working on making the University of Yodle, a university designed to teach new NBBers and Foreigners about NBB and its history.

If you want to join the DA Committee, then just telegram me, DM me, or ping me in the NS general channel (@avw528).

Thank you for reading this TSR!

Roleplay Update
Rogue’s back! Here’s to more roleplaying!

Hello friends! Minister of Roleplay Revoia here!

So, we have had a blast, haven’t we? Totalitarian revolution, election slop, civil war, space interests, collapsed governments, the world of Borealia has remained vibrant. The party has slowed down occasionally, but has never fully stopped, and remains fully within the metrics of success I set half a year ago or so. The truth is, as long as we continue to choose this RP, it will last as long as we’d like it to! Maybe one day we’ll come to a point where we want a clean slate, a new “season” if you will, but that is a few years away minimum.

I just recapped what has been happening in RP above. There are things like diplomatic agreements and such, but the capacity for warfare is starting to ramp up too.

The RP Admin/Committee hasn’t made many changes, and that is by design. The RP has remained very hands off, with the people participating free to figure out what events happen on their own terms.

One major achievement however was getting the map displayed onto the main region! You can see it now in all its glory! You can hover over nations to see who is playing them, it is a really neat system that will hopefully be a giant neon sign for RP and newcomers! If you are on it, do remember to endorse it, it allows it to rank higher in NS globally! Now if only the feature wasn’t so unintuitive to operate.

Isn’t too much more to say really, I will address the long LOA that happened between mid August and Early September for those who aren’t on the Discord or otherwise know, your MoRP suffered a mild case of broken bone and needed a mild treatment of surgery! An Acting RP Minister was appointed, that being Chalistine, now he is the Deputy Roleplay Minister for the remaining term!

In conclusion, the world keeps moving forward! We have the RP Map on display, LOA addressed, you folks have a wonderful day now! Okay? See you around!

Parliament Update
The parliament is passing laws aplenty!

Southsea is here in my capacity as Deputy Speaker of Parliament to give you an update from NBB’s very own legislature.

Despite a small hiccup at the beginning of the term, we’ve elected a new speaker Toastarian and successfully completed our first voting session! Here are the results!

🟢 University of Yodle has passed 8 Aye - 6 Nay - 3 Abstain

🔴 Amending Article VII, Section I has failed 9 Aye - 6 Nay - 2 Abstain

🟢 Prime Minister Emeritus has passed 14 Aye - 2 Nay - 1 Abstain

🟢 Motion to Enact Sanctions has passed 9 Aye - 3 Nay - 5 Abstain

🟢 Fundamental Rights Act has passed 13 Aye - 2 Nay - 2 Abstain

🟢 Unified Code of Law Act has passed 7 Aye - 4 Nay - 6 Abstain

🟢 Article II Amendment has passed 15 Aye - 2 Nay

The next voting session is coming soon. Depending on when this TSR comes out, the debating period for the bills may not have ended yet. Do participate if you have the chance to!

Remember that any citizen can apply to join parliament! All you have to do to be a citizen is endorse our delegate Mjau (So easy!).

Till next time!

Foreign Affairs Update
A new minister enters the office!

Hello NBB!! It’s me, Namojia, your Minister of Foreign Affairs, bringing you an update on the recent events and developments that have transpired since the last update by our former MOFA, Western Arba Fir. This one will be a bit short, but the next should be more filling (;

First, on August 23rd, NBB, along with our friendly neighbors in the Commonwealth of Sovereign States (CSS)....hosted a joint game night with all sorts of fun, ranging from Skribbl.io and Death by AI to even Secret Hitler (my favorite game so far… don’t ask 💀). Seriously though, it was a wonderful time, and NBB is looking forward to seeing more connections spark between us and CSS.

On another note, my team and I are working diligently to bring you more expansive collaborations with our partners across the community as I had promised in my opening address. Many of these are on the brink of completion, including a handful of events and WA joint ventures…so be on the lookout for those.

To close off, NBB has finally crossed the line and made headway with one of our partners over the past few weeks in terms of strengthening our quickly growing relationship; keep an eye out for a message regarding that as well.

Signing off,
Nam

World Assembly Affairs Update
Whoa! The WA actually does something now!

Hello all, Claibornia here to report on the World Assembly! And, if I might say, what an exciting time it has been in the wonderful world of globalist bureaucrats hellbent on taking more of your rights away! (Just kidding…mostly…hahaha.)

As you probably already know, the World Assembly experienced a reset back in July that established the secretariat of 5 nations as well as the adoption system, meaning the WA actually matters to your nation now! While the initial compliance required for voting rights was set to 0%, it has since been upped to 75%, so be sure to check your compliance center to make sure you can vote!

NBB has also begun to hold polls in our Discord server, where citizens get to decide what our stance on each proposal will be, and we have written recommendations for all current GA resolutions. If you would like to participate in these polls, be sure to let either myself or Western Arba Fir know!

Speaking of recommendations, we cannot forget to thank The Washington Federation for taking the time to establish our very own tranche! Tranches are a newer addition that allow nations to adopt proposals recommended by certain nations or regions en masse. Be sure to follow and adopt ours!

More is to come from our WA committee, including some potential region-authored proposals, so be sure to keep an eye out! Thank you all!

Community Affairs Update
A good sign! A new face? Continuing our efforts!

Hi, Southsea here to give you another update for Community Affairs!

Since July, I am happy to report that NBB’s population has rebounded slightly to the low 230’s from the 220’s. This is likely due to the return of RP to our region. To continue our momentum, I encourage anyone who is interested in contributing to the growth of our community to sign up as a recruiter! You can send me a telegram on DM me on Discord at southsea0129.

In other news, Head of Recruitment Pheonixknight is on LOA till later this month. We wish him the best of luck. This means that we will soon have a new face at the MoCA. I already have someone in mind. However, do let me know if you’re interested in becoming the temporary Head of Recruitment till Pheonixknight’s return!

In terms of the NBB wiki, I would like to commend Truzipa and The Washington Federation for their work on the Prime Minister and Delegate pages.

One last thing, I recently saw on Discord, someone asking where I get my ideas for my polls and QOTDs from. Unfortunately, I cannot answer that question, for a magician minister of community affairs never reveals his secrets except if you sue me through the regional court. However, what I can say is that I want a new avenue for Poll and QOTD ideas. Well, more like I want to reuse an old avenue. What will this avenue be? Well, you! 🫵

If you have any ideas, I HIGHLY encourage you to send your ideas to me using the form above. There are no bad ideas after all!

Till next time!

Interview with Fetridge
Always nice to have a (somewhat) new face!

Hello! I'm Fetridge - a relative newcomer to TRTHNBB and a returner to NationStates after a ten year hiatus. In my daily life I work as a civil servant and a freelance musician, which can be a fun balancing act. My hobbies include music, gaming (both board and PC), walking, and - more recently - kayaking.

Originally, my older sister joined NationStates along with some school friends and - as the annoying little brother - I wanted to be involved. Over the years I had multiple nations for varying lengths of time, playing with my sister's friends and my own friends and classmates from school. I always had a vague interest in politics and government, so it was a way to engage with that world, through regions with mates.

I decided to rejoin after a long time trying to find a game that scratched the itch of being much more interested in politics, government and diplomacy than I was back in school. One night I suddenly remembered all the fun I had on NationStates back in the day, thought it was worth seeing what it was like now, and it got me.

Honestly, choosing a region as a returning player felt quite daunting, especially as previously the regions I'd been part of were made up of people I knew IRL. After some research, and a lot of telegram invites, NBB stood out - a democratic socialist region that takes the World Assembly seriously, runs its own elections and parliament, and has an active, welcoming community. What I didn't anticipate was quite how quickly I'd feel at home, or find myself in a active role, as Head of Data, so soon after joining!

Really positive, genuinely. There's always a slight anxiety about walking into an established community as a newcomer, but NBB has been consistently welcoming from day one, and the Discord in particular has been a great way to get to know people. The political side has been a steep but enjoyable learning curve; watching a regional election and then actually participating in the government. There were some understandable concerns from members about a brand new nation being appointed Head of Data so early, which I acknowledged at the time and took seriously - if anything it made me more determined to do the role justice. I hope I'm managing that!

It's been a great experience so far! The role itself - collating and analysing the regional approval data, producing the census dispatch, and making sure everything is presented clearly and accurately - is genuinely satisfying work. Working alongside Truzipa as Minister of Domestic Affairs has been really helpful too, particularly getting to grips with how previous censuses were structured and what the region expects from the role.

Given the early skepticism about my appointment, there was definitely a sense of wanting to prove myself with the first census, and receiving an approval rating of 8.21 from the region felt like a genuinely encouraging sign that I'm settling in well. There's still plenty to learn and I'm conscious of being relatively new to all of this, but so far it's been a really experience and I'm looking forward to what comes next.
