Scientific Advancement System
This the Scientific Advancement System of the Erviadus Galaxy. We are neither a hard sci-fi region, nor do we flow entirely into science fantasy, but rather try to keep a compromise between the two realms of equally enjoyable fiction to make something unique for us.
We are aware that many of the terms in this system appear very technical, and as such the staff and the scientifically-minded community of the Erviadus Galaxy are always willing to answer any questions you may have regarding anything on this system via telegram or on our regional Discord server. Don't be afraid to ask - we've had to research for this, too!
If you are from another region, like this system and would like to adapt it for your own region or use it heavily as a basis for a homecooked version, just send the founder The an xileel a telegram.
POST-MODERN ERA
As a nation in the post-modern era, you've successfully mastered nuclear fission and the first primitive types of propulsion needed to propel your species into the final frontier. Your planet of origin is still most of your civilization's scope, though, and you're bound by the amount of resources you can find on it and in its immediate vicinity, thus making your economy still highly resource based. The lack of sufficiently advanced thrusters and spaceship designs prevents you from leaving your system.
Further down the line, your nation begins unravelling some of the illusive unknowns of medicine, eventually enabling you to cybernetically, nanotechnologically and genetically modify your population and other lifeforms. Exponential advancements in computing and material science allow you to build ever stronger materials and primitive artificial intelligences, leading up to the development of contained nuclear fusion. Military-grade weaponry begins embracing those advancements into fusion technology, developing plasma and laser armaments as well as railguns.
Space combat is not possible at this stage. Your nation cannot field a space navy.

EXPLORATION ERA
Faster-Than-Light drive development catapults your nation into a wholly new chapter of its existence. Whilst the first warp drives are relatively slow, fairly unstable and tremendously expensive, the sheer fact that distant stars are now reachable within months or even weeks changes everything. Colonies outside your home system become a possibility - a very expensive one, but expansion becomes more viable the farther you advance.
Advancements into the Lifesciences grant you the technological prowess to further augment your population and prolong lives beyond what used to be normal. The monumental invention of FTL drives comes hand-in-hand with quantum entangled communication, also faster-than-light and a necessity for your bureaucracy; artificial intelligence becomes ever more indistinguishable from the organic variant, and computing power continues to exponentially increase.
With the Final Frontier opening up to your military as well as your civilians, suits of powered armor with special protection against the hazards of deep space become established within your armed forces. Fleets can now be fielded.

COLONIAL ERA
Exploration of the galaxy and the development of a more advanced version of warp drives enable your nation to embark on large-scale colonization of its surroundings. No longer bound to the limited resources of your vicinity, your economy undergoes a change towards miniscule resource trade and an ever increasing service and technology sector; the only resource really worth trading anymore is Verinul, the fuel for FTL drives.
Life now becomes designable within the framework of the genetics you know; work into synthetic forms of life begins, and you can develop wholly new types of medicine based on synthetic biochemistry.
Antimatter becomes easier and less costly to produce, computing power increases to the point where illusive problems of mathematics can be readily solved, and picoengineering enables you to modify how matter works on an atomic level.
Advancements into the previous fields allow your armed forces to adapt continuously more exotic weaponry. Fleets the size of over 2000 ships can be fielded.

PLANETARY ERA
Your civilization has reached a level of energy production equivalent to the total amount of sunlight falling on a large, terrestrial planet within the habitable zone. Energy is now the only economic constraint for your nation; all resources other than the FTL-vital Verinul have become so abundant that they are negligible for your economic prowess.
Synthetic life now becomes a reality, going farther than either cybernetic or nanotechnological augmentation and instead changing life at its very root. Megastructures become a graspable reality as the ability modify how matter works on an atomic and subatomic level opens up to you. The same ability to modify how matter works enables your military to adopt powerful subatomic particles as ammunition.
Your nation is now able to field up to 4800 ships in its permanent fleet.

EARLY STELLAR ERA
Exponential growth has led to an equally exponential need for energy; your civilization cannot run on the energy that a single planet can, theoretically, provide, but now must start moving towards what stars can give. Indeed, now that your nation proliferates across the stars, Verinul has just become even more necessary to survive in a stellar empire, by now being your economy's greatest boon and worst danger.
Synthetic life - truly synthetic, not basing on naturally evolved organisms nor constrained by their limits - is now possible, as is transcending an organism's mind into artificial means. Manipulating subatomic matter is now a full field of its own and opens up megastructures that can support your nation's growing hunger for energy, as well as allow for the creation of matter unimaginable before.
5600 ships can now be fielded and maintained in a standing fleet. The development of Quantum Vacuum (QV) thrusters removes the need of fuel for sub-light propulsion.
